Sorry if this has been discussed, and i've looked around abit, but ...
it seems that the big back window is more desired.
why is this? was a BBW an option or special order? customs only?
i feel i should know this one, but i don't.

by the way, i like the small back window myself.

Frank, there was a poll taken here not too long ago about which one do you like better. I can't even remember which one won out, big or small. But, it was a very narrow margin victory.
Oh, and I'm with you. I prefer small.

BBW looks like a modern truck....

SBW is yet another styling cue that makes our trucks "unique" in todays cookie cutter, me too world.

Newbie. I didn't even know there was a BBW. Which too had me
wondering, I thought SBW was a "Marital, Race, Gender" thing and
I was on one of those sites my Wife warned me about.

I guess since I have a SBW I like them best. but had I gotten a BBW Ida loved
it too. Halle Barry, is she a SBW or did she get Married? I'd like
to Rub Noses with that chick, Smokin'

I perfer the sbw I think the bbw looses the body lines
if I wanted a bbw i would get a newer truck

Our trucks are both SBW, so naturally, that's what I like better.

Anyhow, I think BBW's are a slightly rarer "option", also known as a "panoramic" back window, available more in colder climates as to let more of the sun in to warm the cab. Same with SBW's, used more in warmer climates to block the sun and shade the cab.

All in all, I like them both, but you prefer what you own...SBW...

I have owned both.. my first truck (still have) is a SBW but I really wanted the BBW. when I get around to it I'm converting the SBW 61 to a BBW..

. BBW is the nicer. I couldn't stand the small window, I had to stick my head out of the window everytime I wanted to change lanes. When I see a small back window I think of a no optioned farmers truck.

and since you only like '64-'66's than maybe you won't be too offended that mine is ONLY a '62. he he
i was just trying to find out how or why you could get one OR the other.
...also i like farm/work trucks.

I agree with Joemamma1. I sold my SBW, and still have my BBW. That extra sheetmetal in the corner was a real PITA to try and see around when changing lanes.

I've never had a problem changing lanes in my option-free, small back window 1962 c10. I use my mirrors too...

Mine's a sbw, but soon to be a bbw when I swap cabs with my bbw parts truck. I prefer the bbw by a country mile.

I have owned both and like them both,however, many years ago i got in an accident in my 65 SBW,not blaming the truck but it is a bad blind spot.Got a 62 BBW now

I dont quite get what you mean by "only 62". I dont think they can have more than 1 model year on the tittle. To swap you need the inner skin of the bbw cab to put on yours. Work/farmer trucks are wonderful when used for that purpose, just dont try and show me a sick lwb sbw truck (to me they dont exist). I may be a little biased though.

Hey if you dont like options in your truck more power to you.

Any mirror is gonna show something, but not all. Even those coffee can side mirrors leave a lot to be desired, let alone the small round set. So you guys are telling me that when you look left without sticking your head outta the window you can see everything with just your mirrors? Lets hope you never have to merge into my lane.

The big window unquestionably provides better visibility, but for a combination of reasons wasn’t all that popular when new, making them rare today increasing their current desirability. I’ve had other big back window trucks and personally disliked being sun roasted by all the glass behind my head and neck.

The small back window is one of the details of the cab design I like the most. It ties in with the stepped lid on the roof, forward leaning door posts, windshield overhang and wrap around glass. With the original 1960 hood, the overall design remains very unique.

For me, the small back window panel detail compares to a convertible versus a coupe. The roof is part of the most beautiful sheet metal on a car, full of compound curves. For those that prefer convertibles, nothing is cooler. For me, the results are disappointing because all that beautiful sheet metal is missing.

Now Im just pokin fun but take a look at my boy Sloth. Unique, no? Would you say he's pretty or easy on the eyes? Didn't think so.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Of course theyre opinions, all of it is. Do we need to start putting disclaimers on every post just so people dont get their feelings hurt?

Everyone knows it always comes down to what you like, it goes w/out saying. Did you even read the entire thread or just that post? Ive already responed to the farmers truck/mirrors comment. I swear some MEN are so damn sensitive its pitiful.

i like the small back glass the best.when i was a kid every one had those picture scenes in the big back window trucks around here in the late 70's.they were a big turn off for me.that said anyone got a big back glass truck they want to give away send it to me lol.

Guys lets keep the conversation civil. We all like to show our pride and allegiance to our favorite version of truck. Be it SWB, LWB, fleet or step, BBW or SBW we like what we like. This doesn't mean that we should be critical of the other guys choice.

If you are accustomed to a bbw, a sbw will take some getting accustomed to...if you are accustomed to a sbw, a bbw will take some getting accustomed to! I have had and currently have both. Both styles have their pros & cons.

I have never been interested in the custom show truck market, where the bbw may have a following. I have always prefered the sbw as a more nostalgic and functional design, which also brings out the details of the classic sheet metal on these trucks. Plus I like a little privacy, just look at todays vehicles with all the glass, what do they do?, tint it all black.

Built 327 You need two tools in life: duct tape and WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, you use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, you use WD-40.
