Shifter ?

Can anyone tell me what this shifter is for. I think it is out of a '67-72 but I don't know what. Thanks.

It looks like a floor shift conversion for a 3 speed.

There was one that looked alsmot like that stuck in a '67 I drug home.
there are only 2 rods, and i think a Muncie/Saginaw 4 speed would have 3? I dunno.

I could be wrong..but, thats my guess.

Thanks guys. The thing that puzzles me is, I've never seen a three speed setup with that big of a hole in the shifter arm. (where it bolts to the tranny shaft) They should both be the size of the small one....

^ I agree,it looks like an aftermarket shifter for a 3 speed.Maybe a "Fenton" or other Hurst Knockoff.

those arms look a little short to me for a truck 3 speed. Maybe it's just the picture but i was under mine yesterday, and i could swear they looked longer.

the length of the shift rods could be attributed to it being a '67 or older non-synchroed Muncie.

Those suckers are stubby.

Well, that didn't pan out because the mounting holes in the integral mounting bracket are way off, but looking closer at he shifter I found a Patent number. I typed the Patent number into Google and this came up.

A shifting assembly in which a shifting stick is moved in a straight line to control gear range and differential operation of a transfer case in a four wheel drive vehicle. A pair of lever arms operable by a single shifting stick actuate the transfer case mechanisms. A gear range lever arm shifts the transfer case between high, neutral, and low gear positions while a differential lever arm is shiftable from a first position to a second to lock the differential mechanisms. Special cam slots in the lever arms are engageable with a pin on a selector arm movable by the shifting stick. A link, operable by the pin with movement of the shifting stick, pivots to effect movement of the differential lever arm while simultaneously disengaging from the range lever arm.

Humm... Now if I can figure out what vehicle it fits. It may not even be GM but it came with some 67-72 Chevy stuff I got.
