67-68 Grille, opening buckets black or body color?
What do your 67-68 grilles look like? Are the buckets that sit behind the openings black or body color? I am talking about the pieces that are riveted to the grille.

I have been told the entire grille are would have been white or black regardless of the body color. But I've seen too many that were body color... though I suppose they all could have been repaints. I'll be interested to see the concensus on this question.

I have a Torch red 67. I did mine balck. I also did the rad support black.
I kinda like them red too. I had a really hard time deciding and I just decided to spray them black with a bunch of other parts I had to spray. The grill was originally white with flat black buckets.

Lights go on the bottom. I like the monochrome look. Mine are polished aluminum on both trucks however.

'67s had white headlight bezels and white [I call 'em "chicken lips" because they were so hard to find] grille moldings. They could also be a contrasting color. On a white truck the trim might be blue. I'm not sure if '67 "buckets" were also white or black. (I've only seen black originally)
'68s had aluminum headlight bezels and chicken lips and the buckets were black. Also there was more aluminum trim on the fenders and hood that the '67s don't have. A contrasting color was sometimes painted on the whole face of the grille. I have a '68 C/10 in 516 (hugger) Orange with a white face. I salvaged a silver painted grille off a light metallic blue '68 Sub for my '67 Sub (after I hit a deer). I don't know if these trim color schemes were factory or dealer -added, or if some plants had different styles from others. Update: I just paid attention to the '68 grille on my '67 sub, it has silver [Fawn] buckets, matching the Fawn paint on the grille. this was originally on a metallic light blue truck. The original '67 grille was in pieces when I bought it. White grille, black buckets, dark blue chicken lips. Headlight bezels were aluminum -- off a '68 I guess.

The ones I have seen with original paint were silver. The silver looks tdo much like a rattle can job.
I painted my front area around the grill including the buckets white along with the cab and below the body trim.

67-68 Grille, opening buckets black or body color?
I want to restore my 67 C-20 as close to original as possible. The grille frames and buckets are now black, against a dark blue repainted body color. What is the actual shade of white used by Chevy on these grilles & bezels? Could the buckets be the argent color used by many manufacturers, behind the grille?

P/n 9188. www.paddockparts.com I used it on my dash bezel, and will be spraying it on my steering wheel soon. Good product. Exact match.

On the deluxe models with chrome headlight buckets and grille trim... all the ones I have seen in junk yards had a silver paint.

On my '68 stepside, the wheel, column, dash bezel, door panels and original vinyl bench seat, [and I think the original 17.5" rims] were Fawn, the main body color being 516 Orange. On my '67 sub, the exterior is white, and the interior is Fawn. The glovebox face is Charcoal Gray Iridescent 9174L. The glovebox edges are Fawn. 9188 is listed as "Medium Fawn Iridescent" in the 1967 list and "Silver Fawn Iridescent" under 1968. There's also a "Dark Fawn Iridescent (Suede) 9189" in the '67 list. As I understand it, "suede" means flat, and "iridescent" might mean metallic. The Paddock catalog says " Suede colors are used on upper instrument panel."
