What is Missing From My Frame...so far

I FINALLY got my truck into the garage to start disassembly. My cousin and I took the bed of last night and I noticed a couple of places on the frame where things appear to have been cut off. What is supposed to be here? Also, it I suspect that the rear end that is in it isn't what is should be in it; the tires stick out of the rear fenderwells by about 2" or so. What is the correct measurement from backing plate to backing plate? Thanks!

Re: What is Missing From My Frame...so far

Did this use to be a long wheel base frame? The 2 circles behind the cab look like where the front bed mounts from a long bed would be. But I see your sig line says SWB.

If not, I agree with Chas.

What bed was on it? The pieces on the frame rails are from the front bed mounts. There are pieces under the cab that are also from the front bed mounts. The piece on the crossmember I have no idea.

Re: What is Missing From My Frame...so far

It had a "modified" stepside bed on it the PO installed. It was just mounted in a couple of places to some crossmembers with a few long self tapping screws. The bed was mounted to the frame with two bolts through each of the crossmembers to the frame. It didn't look right.

Excellent! Thanks, Glock! Now the big question...is this something that is reproduced or do I need to start hunting for these?!

Re: What is Missing From My Frame...so far

Also, it is a stepside, if that makes a difference. I don't knonw if the frame has been modified at all or if it was a LWB at one time. Can I tell by the VIN?

Is the SPID still inside the glove box door? Check the wheelbase on that. 115" for a shortbed, and 127" for a longbed.

Re: What is Missing From My Frame...so far

OK, it is a SWB frame, and you are missing the front bed mounts. In the pic below, there is one mount on the right, and the other is missing from the left. Those are the front mounts from a LWB. The two behind that are the ones you are missing. You can see the flat mounts behind them that you still have.

Re: What is Missing From My Frame...so far

There are always guys parting trucks on here. Put a WTB ad in the classifieds, should be able to pick up a pair cheap.
