GM Muncie 318 different Side Covers ???
Hello,
I have a 1966 C10 Long Bed Truck with the 283 V8 and the 3 on the tree Tranny. Now my GM 318 is broken and i need a new one. On ebay.com i have found a rebuild one thats looks great. Its a 318 like my. Only 2 Thinks are different. The Side Cover is a little bit rounder and on the case there is a different to. You can see it at the picture. Is this a problem ? Or can i take this Tranny and put it in my Truck ??? Thank you all verry verry much. Greats Nils |

The Tranny from ebay is from 1958. My old one is from 1966 maybe the design of the Side Cover is a little bit different. The Number on the Tailshaft are on both the same. The other Numbers dont fit. Bothe are 10 Spline input shaft and 16 Spline output.

your trk tranny should be threaded in the two bottom holes on the case where it bolts to the bellhousing. It doesn't look like the ebay one is threaded.

if you can't get a bearing and seal kit . one can get the pieces separate as bearings are pretty universal. usually if you can get as a kit they are less money ron |

Re: GM Muncie 318 different Side Covers ???
Hi,
my Transmission Builder said that the Lever (1. Pic) is bad and the 3rd Gear is bad. The Builder become no prices from his seller (USA) and i am waitind for 7 Monts to get a price. An other garage said that as he seen the pics you see that my Tranny is verry bad and the repait cost €1500-2000. No i have thouht, that a new Tranns is cheaper. But the shipping costs are verry high. Did any body know if its verry difficult to repair the 318 Tranny ? A Repair Manual or something else would be verry good. Thank you verry much for your help.
