Re: Is this tailgate toast?
I suspect it's structurally fine but if it bothers you, that needs to be welded up. To weld it up you'll need to get it media blasted to find out just how rusted it is, and then hire or get a MIG welding guy to weld that up, then blast and paint.
You may want to find another tailgate if you can. |

Re: Is this tailgate toast?
Depends on what you want to do, skill level.
If you have to pay someone to repair it, no way on fixing it. It would take some doing, but patch panels could be somewhat easily made, and welded on Seen worse,. |

Re: Is this tailgate toast?
If you have the tools, skill, and experience, then everything is "an easy fix."
But if you don't and have to hire someone to do it, then it's not so easy and certainly not cheap. Finding a new tailgate may be best but that still means getting it painted. |

Re: Is this tailgate toast?
X2. If it was an “easy fix” someone would have already done it

Re: Is this tailgate toast?
Wish I could find a tailgate even in that shape. My Chevy has a gmc tailgate. But every tailgate within like 100 miles is bought up by someone making benches out of them.
