Timing chain may have jumped a tooth.

Is it an old points distributor, or have you upgraded to HEI?

Compression test ran with sad results thought I would like to look under the valve covers but I am having trouble removing those to investigate further seem to be stuck on from number years of abuse guess it's just time to replace and rebuild any thoughts?

If the motor is running rough and is puffing out of the exhaust I would venture to guess that a leakdown test would reveal worn/sticking/burnt exhaust valves in #7 and #8 cylinders at the very least. Depending on mileage it's probably time for a rebuild.

With the numbers you showing.....that motor is severely worn, or all the valves are hanging open, or the rings are broken in two cylinders. I'd pull the valve covers off and do an adjustment then recheck compression. If numbers are the same then it's time to yank the motor out and see what happened inside. Did you lose oil pressure? Engine seized?

Re: HELP! My truck just quit running while driving and now won't start

Before you yank the engine, do a little bit more troubleshooting. Squirt some oil down the spark plug holes, then do another compression test, and hold the pedal to the floor as you're cranking the engine over. If the compression ratio comes up then you know you have a problem with the rings, if not then you likely have leakage past the valves.

Re: HELP! My truck just quit running while driving and now won't start

7 and 8 are across from each other right? So not a head gasket problem. Bent valves from a jumped chain? I think it is a nice opportunity to take it out and get it all cleaned up. Farmer's overhaul with just rings bearings and gaskets won't cost more than $300 or $400 but machining and all the other stuff that goes along with it would be considerably more.
