Re: Alternator Bracket
That is the correct brace, why do you want another one?

Re: Alternator Bracket
that's possibly an aftermarket chromed one?
The stock one which looks like that (minus the chrome) should work fine. |

Re: Alternator Bracket
Yeper's the chrome ones don't hold up to well. Can you take it off and go by a machine shop and have one made.

Re: Alternator Bracket
To be honest with you the alt bracket is one of the last things in that engine compartment I would be worried about. Fuel pump mounted to the heater box unless the tank is in the wiper cowl isn't installed anywhere near the correct location (electric pumps are supposed to be lower then the tank) let alone the heat from the headers soaking into it. I would also look into the oil dip stick as it looks like it used to have a bolt going to a manifold bolt that would be incorrect for a small block and give incorrect readings.
But as far as the alt bracket goes that other then chrome is correct and in the correct location. What brand of alt are you getting? Also as for the belt slipping I would say that is a pulley alinement issue.

Re: Alternator Bracket
Man...you got a good eye. It's weird how so many people can look at a picture and see nothing.

Re: Alternator Bracket
With headers I think you have to use a bracket like this.

Here is a nice shot of what I used to have on my truck. Stock lower and slightly modded upper (took 2 and made 1).
