Which Ram Horns??

Looking for advice/opinions on which ram horn manifolds to purchase.

1966 C10
Crate 290HP 350 mounted in 'aft' position.
4 speed using original b/h, cross member and z-bar.

Lowered 4.5 in the front / 5 in the rear.

I have stockers both straight take offs on both trucks...the black ones are nice!

The Speedway rams are identical to the one found on ebay so you can save yourself some $$ and go with the ebay one. I have these same exact manifolds on my 66 C10, SB350 328hp. Mine has a 350 TH auto trans but it shouldn't make any difference on your manual trans since you'll have your muffler shop route the pipes as needed. You'll need to pick up the flange reducer depending on what size pipes you plan on using. I went with a 3" to 2.25" reducer.

Other thing to keep in mind with ram horns, get the long corvette HEI plug wires. Much easier to run them from underneath.

I thought about running them underneath but I think I'm going to go with this look. It means I need to buy new plug wires because I have 90 degree ones now (new) but I'm nowhere near finished with my truck so plenty of time for changes.

I will also need to find/make a set of those vertical wire looms that mount at the back of the head.

That looks really clean. Routing them that way wasn't an option for me since I have the valve covers with the center bolts instead of the outer edge mounting screws, so no place to fasten the wire clips. The picture below shows the wires just laying across the top but you can see that options for clips are limited with these covers.



For my setup pulling them from underneath mean less chance of melting a wire on the manifold.

yeah, your setup is still pretty clean though.

this is the visual i'm going for with my motor...

except i'm going to run ram horns.

I guess it's a little dumb but it's the vision in my head of what i want to see when i pop the hood....

That looks great. Let me know if you have a source for those clips. I could always fab something to hold them to the covers and would be easier than working under the truck just to route the wires (PITA).

summit racing has the wire holders but they bolt to the edges of the v/c's.

Right, I was thinking I could spot weld a couple of nuts (bungs) along the edge of my v/c's and attach those clips there. The cover design when using Vortec heads has it's limitations but with some creativity I might be able to make those work.

Best of luck with the ram horns, I think you'll really like them. I personally prefer them over headers.
