Rear Discs and e brake
I was just in touch with a guy who was selling some plans for rear disc brakes on e-bay. Apparently his bracket plans allow a guy to use 88 chevy 4x4 front rotors and s10 calipers. The system doesn't allow for any e-brake though.
Is there away from this - using some kind of brake line pressure valve? Should I just keep looking for a 70's lincoln rear end? Advice...

Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said. |

There are plenty of 6 lug kits available. We sell them at.. $849.95 (OUCH)!!! But these are set up so that you can still use your emergency brakes. The new emergency brake cables that fit this kit are $89.95 per pair. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I used the TSM brackets and 86 Eldorado calipers with integral e-brake.
It was a pretty easy swap and with a small modification my orig. e-brake cable I was able get the e-brake working. The one problem is the travel of the e-brake is not enough to FULLY engage the e-brake.I think I cut and shorten the e-brake lever on the caliper I can get these e-brake to hold TIGHT. TSM kit.Braided lines were 50 bucks extra here's the e-brake cable mod.I cut it about 2" ,removed the factory return spring and enlarged the Eldorado's opening that the cable goes through. rear disk brakes
we used a kit from CPP and I think it was around 600.00, it was a direct bolt on and no modifications were needed they also used late model Caddy calipers.

I'll pass this by Randy. Anybody can make up a kit and sell it on ebay. But reputable business are always safer to deal with.. An from this board and the internet there are a good deal of them. We have had a couple people buy ebay brackets and couldn't get them to work and lost out on money and time.. We worked with them to get them handled, but it shouldn't come to that.. Just a heads up with Ebay brackets.. I'll see what randy thinks and come back..

Rick,how'd you get the e-brake to pull tight.
I've adjusted my e-brake foot lever to all different configurations and can only get it to pull so far. Did you use aftermarket e-brake cables or are they factory. Don't get me wrong,my e-brake works...I just feel there is room for improvement. By the way...them some shiney brakes you got there. Looks good!

we just used the factory (for the truck) cable and everything worked out.

Doin' a 14 Bolt Full Floater
I'm doing my 14 Bolt Full Floater right now. I have all the part numbers if anyone is interested. Even with replacing ALL the bearings, races, and seals, new rotors, calipers w/E-brake, pads, hoses and hard lines, and appropriate E-brake cables, the parts came in under $400.00 end to end. Had to buy the brackets off E-Bay, but checked out the seller real good first. Asked alot of questions, and did alot of cross-referencing.
Probably start the install after Carlisle show this Friday. Anybody else going?? 72longbed |

I'm not a retail outfit. I don't profit by sharing my knowledge and experiences with other members. I'm not using this site as a guise to 'hawk' goods. ( You might sense a lingering animosity towards 'Retailers' on this site for all the times I was 'Back-Doored' by them on MY threads on the Parts Board.) P.S. I'm sure my new 12" rotors front and back will stop my 2wd truck with 265/70/R16's just fine. Not concerned one bit. 72longbed ( Doesn't sell truck parts for a living) |

I hope i didn't come across as an A$$..
I was just giving a heads up about those style brackets with the tube spacers.. People can give free info and help anytime. I don't have any problem with you or anyone giving free info or parts listings.. Sorry if It sounded like I was bagging on what you have.. Just a safety concern that we have been seeing at rock crawls and obstacle course races..The flex on those brackets has snapped some with the larger tires.. Hey for what its worth sorry you have been back doored.. I'll edit my post to hopefully keep you a friend on here..

I am a little lost about what happened in this thread but if I offended anyone by responding to this thread I appologize for that, but I benifit in no way by reffering people to check out CPP, I was just telling people that I was pleased w/ thier products.
