Serpentine Rad hose Please help ASAP
I am running a serpentine system from a 1990 chevy 1/2 ton V8 in my 71. I blew my top rad hose today and do not know what application of hose I need. The hose I was using, I found in the wrecking yard. I do not know what it was from. The hose I had fit a little too close to the alternator, rubbed, and began to leak. The alt. is in the path of the 71 stock hose, so I need something that will go around the alt. I looked at a hose for a 1990 1/2 V8, but the angles didn't look right in the parts store. One of the fancy chromed flex hoses isn't an option either. Price and availability issues. I need my truck running tomorow afternoon. Please help.
Thanks Jason |

I don't know if this will help or not, but a guy at a parts store clued me into this. Take a wire hanger and bend it to the shape you need. Then take the bent wire to a parts store and they should be able to get you into the ball park. I did this when I converted from inline 6 to a V-8. It worked great. Hope this helps.

if you have a hose with clearance problems you can always fab up something out of sheetmetal to hold the hose away from spinning parts

Everytime we install a serpentine, I always get the water neck and upper hose for a 90 chevy truck and it works fine (the hose will require a little trimming).
All of it can be found atautozone or a similar place for around 25-30.00 dollars, and it will eliminate the guess work next time. Shawn this is what it looks like on a big block w/ serpentine hose link Last edited by rickspickuppart; 04-25-2004 at 05:42 PM. |

I am running serpentine system from 90 Camaro. Ended up using one of those new metal hose kits. It bends pretty easy. Also used a swivel 45 degree angle watr neck from Summit. All together it ran me about $75. Good luck.
