I love the interior lights in my moms BMW that slowly dim to off. Is there a little module that I can buy so that I can do this to my truck (after I add the door jam switches). I've always wanted to have my interior light come on when I open the door, and I thought I might as well do it with some style

Come on, even my cell phone does it

You'll have to search the schematics of a car that has the feature.
I've been thinking of something similar...my wife's car, the light stays on for 12 seconds after the door shuts, or untill you turn the key. That's what i want.

i got one fro my miata .. like movie lights going out... it my in a miata catalog..

On GM vehicles that feature is controlled by the BCM (body control module) good luck retrofitting it to a truck, might be a little difficult. It would be easier and cheaper if you just slowly close your eyes each time you close your door.

lol too funny

all it is is a resister that holds a little charge when it disipates it goes out. I know it is not as simple as that but that is the basic principal. my wifes firebird does it and the raido stays on till you open the door or for ten min. It would be easy to get it to work in our trucks if you got the wiring out of these cars that do it. and intergrate it.

I guess I could take my 2 years of Electrical Engineering and put that to work (I don't want to)

Use a few capacitors to charge up while the door is open, then when it's closed, they dissipate. Then bypass the capacitors for the dome light switch on dash so that it doesn't stay on for ~10sec after I want to turn it off. This could get real complicated real fast... Maybe I don't want them this bad

Thanks for the help, I will see what I come up with. I was just hoping there was something in JC Whitney that I missed.

ive seen a module somewhere, i think rodtronics? something like that.

My wife's 96 Corsica has it. When you pull up on the door handle the interior lights come on.
