Lets talk seats

Hey guys, I have a 72 with a worn out, torn up, bouncy, oh yah and ugly bench seat in it. I,m looking for some ideas on a new one. I thought about one out of a 2000 or newer so the seat belt are right in the seat and I could do away with the nasty old ones. Still open to any ideas though. Could I see some pictures of your interiors to get a better idea of what I want?

Seats

Several people on here have used seats from 1989-2000 with good luck. The 60/40 benches from 1990 or so fit pretty good from the photos I've seen. Watch out for stuff after 02 since they may have side airbags in them. Good luck

Thanks for your input. Sounds like mid to late 90's is the way to go. I just want to know if there is a way to get a shoulder strap belt hooked up. I hate the non retractable lap belts. They look cheap layed out all over the seat.

Ihave the 2002 seats in my truck they look pretty good and I love the seatbelt. Also the third row seat out of a tahoe or suburban sits perfectly between the wheel wells on the back. I will try to snap some pics today.

I had almost bought a 3rd row seat from a tahoe, but you cant move them forward or backwards, I guess you could but an adjustment frame underneath, but may as well just find a seat that would be adjustable already. I think also that there are alot of companies that sell brackets for some seats to our trucks, so they line up on the factory holes.

I just returned from the Pate Swap Meet at the Texas Motor Speedway. They had a lot of seats. Prices started at $100. all the way up to $1100. (Out of a Mustang). I was surprised that most of the restored trucks kept the original bench, they simply restored it like the rest of the truck. I think when I get to that point, I'll go with buckets. The Tarsus SHO seats "Faster_than_you" talked about, looks great!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It looks like there is a lot to choose from since you can fabricate almost anything to fit. JayDubBlazer, I would like to see your 72 with 2002 seats in it. If you could post your pics, that would be great. Or if it would work for you, I will be in Ames on Monday the 10th or Tuesday the 11th. Maybe we could meet and I could check them out.- they sound sweet.

Thanks,
Steve
