i just hope our younger members who are still in school will take note , and see that taking courses in creative writing while you have the chance can and will pay off when composing ads for ebay!! it's not so much what you have to sell but how you sell it that counts

cdowns is right
Ebay, like an other place to buy things, is a place where anyone can get seriously ripped off if they are not paying attention. A good seller can make their junk look like gold and a gem of an item can look like crud, depending on the seller's ability to market the item.
As for the AM radios, I bought one for about $10 on ebay from a guy who could not gaurantee that it would work, but it was an old chrome Motorola in excellent shape that would fit our trucks. Since I wanted my dash to look similar to what it would have looked like in 1971, that was perfect for me. I installed it a few weeks ago and it works great! I intend to put a CD player in the glove box, so this all worked out perfectly for my plans...and I didn't get raked over the coals. |

The first one quit working (for what ever reason).
The second one was bench tested. The tested one is still high however. For around $80 - $90 you can buy a NOS AM Radio.

I agree with Diane. I don't think that anyone is questioning you or what you are selling. I think they are just questioning the buyers because most of us know what things are worth... but apparently a lot of people on e-bay don't!

its not always the person fualt that starts the auction ,its the people bidding. You could start your auction at a penny and if it sales for 200.00 its not your fault . and if it sales for a penny then the buyer got a deal. what you have to look for is high shipping cost.Thats where some of them get ya.So if his grommets sold for 52 dollars it wasnt his fault it was the person on the other end that has more money than sense.example . I bought 2 t3 headlights for our trucks for 2 dollars and sold them on ebay . I started them at 1.00 and they sold for 90.00 and the next set brought 20.00.so am I the bad guy now.

Thanks everyone...I appreciate your support....Robert, your grommets are on the way. The Wife sent them out in this mornings mail. Orange 70 Chevy...I think you hit the nail on the head..I think for some people it boils down to jealosy. That's one trait in mankind that I can't stand. Thanks, I will revisit ebay in a few months. I know my Son is going to start moving some parts on there (all used items, I'm keepin the NOS for me)..Hope you all have a great weekend

Ebay and this board are seperate issues. If he's a member here so be it...most all have watched and made comments on ebay here frequently. I get a good laugh lots of time about ebay... so be it.
I looked up the part number in my 72 parts book and it came up as a gas tank filler neck grommet for 1971 / P10-P15..vent pipe 3746483 section 3.008 Fuel Exhaust. When I did look up grommets in my parts book I came up with number 3898696 which changed up to number 332650 section 9.775. Those nubers are listed as grommets for windshield wiper hoses. Now if thats the number used for the firewall grommet I'm not sure as it would take more parts book searching. Looking at the pic in the auction they look correct for firewall cowl grommets to me. How they would used for gas tank filler neck grommets is something I think I would have to go look at. So regardless its buyer beware on ebay... if you got questions about truck parts... ask here.

I can't actually believe people are freaking out because someone is making money off of someone else's stupidity. We should be happy for this guy, not angry.
