carb for a 250 -6
Where there many offered? I have one on my 68 GMC but I don't know what year its from because the truck was originally a v8. Anyway mine has major probs, a guy said its probably dried out over the years. Should I have it rebuilt? Are the parts available for that? Wonder how to find the right one if I wanted to replace it, or if it doesn't matter? The truck has a manual choke on the dash that functions.
Thanks!

autozone had a rebuild kit for less than 5 bucks
those I6 carbs are some of the easiest carbs to rebuild - do it yourself! sswj

just tell em your year make and model. They might ask 1 or 2 bbl. the inline 250's (correct me if i'm wrong guys) is a 1 bbl.

I picked up a rebuilt carb for my 250 at advance auto for $40.00. I also got a rebuild kit for $5.00 . I bolted the new carb on and it was perfect just needed a little idle adjustment. I put the rebulid kit in the box with the original and when I have time I can rebuild it. But for $40.00 bucks with no core charge it was worth it for me to go new. You will need to tell them if it has an electric or manual choke when you order.

carb #
if I am correct the carb # for a '68 GMC with 250 should be 7028011 for manual trans & 7028012 for auto. if this doesnt match let me know, I have a #s book on these. the # is on the drivers side of float bowl.

there's a little metal tab that should be screwed on to one of the 4 upper corners. You'll want that number when you go the the parts store. I had incredible difficulty getting them to find the correct carb for some reason. Once they found it (took 3 trips) the rebuild kit/already rebuild carb were both very cheep.

not cheap
the NAPA store I called quoted $153 bucks, could this be a new carb? They don't make them do they? Can someone down there buy me a $40 one and ship it to me? I can get a pic of my carb too.

I checked the local parts stores here today, NAPA 109, Autozone 110, bumper-bumper 112 with our discount. These were all Tomco rebuilds and required a core. I need 8 for a 283 with a 8 1BBL carb manifold for my 57 short bed.

whatta ya say can somebody hook us up? Or wouldn't it be worth it, shipping would be about 5 bucks I think, so ten cause of sending the old one back for core. Could save me 35 bucks if I tipped. Anyone game?
