Hood raising in rear

My truck is suffering from the common problem of raising up at the hinge and having to be pushed down to fit against the cowl. Can this problem be fixed with new hinge springs, or are entire new hinges required? thanks, Ed

That can happen for several reasons.
Usually it is just adjustment, assuming that the pins are tight and the hinges themselves are solid.
Weak springs will allow the hood to droop when open but they are strectched fully when closed.
As crazy as it sounds the back of the hood will sit too high when the hinges are set too LOW on the fenders.
As always.......lubrication is very important too.

Ditto, earll it up real good first. Then mark the hinges with a pencil, loosen two bolts and adjust a little. Try it out, loosen only two at a time, and adjust only a little bit, till you get where you want. The pencil marks let you put it back to the know starting postion if it gets too out of whack.

Thanks for the advice guys! We had to put a new passenger side inner and outer fender on the truck during the project. Must not have gotten that hinge in exactly the right spot. The springs are well lubed, so I will try to adjust them for a good fit. thanks again, Ed

Try loosening the rear bolts and just slightly loosening the fronts.Have someone push slightly up on the front of the hood and tighten the bolts.Shut the hood slowly and easily watching to be sure it doesn't hit the cowl or fenders. This should help lower the rear of the hood when shut.
