Please Help Value Estimation On Loaded 74-75 Hickey Conversion Blazer

ok i went and took some pictures of it , if there is anyone here who could give me a close estimatation to the worth of this blazer youre help is appreciated also if there are any members of colorado k5 could you please post a link there to this thread ? anyways this is the deal , it is a 74 i believe maybe 75 chevy cheyenne blazer custom hickey conversion , hickey from what i have read is a convertion company that also build offroad products and accesories , or at least use to , this blazer is the cheyenne model , full convertable top that has never been off of the truck , 350 th350 203 i believe with 89,000 original miles , truck is optioned with tilt , air , cruise , fact tach , wood grain panels everywhere , and 35 gal gas tank , now some of the hickey add ons i believe are the paint scheme of orange and white with color matched full roll bar , color matched brush gaurd , color matched luggage rack on the top with 3 bars running the length , pretty neat rack some wierd fiberglass hood that actually dips where these trucks hoods usually raised , some type of bracketry on the rear , custom hickey steering wheel , and all kinds of emblems and other goodies im sure i havnt found yet , truck runs and drives like a million bucks , no shakes or wanders , runs as smooth as a sewing machine , 4wd all works excellent , air needs recharged i believe and the cruise isnt working , there is rust along the bottoms and the quarters , rocker boxes look in excellent shape which is amazing , the truck comes with new fenders , rockers and quarter panels for both sides , interior is in really good shape , only rip is in the driver seat , the options tag has been removed , this is a 2 owner truck very rarley driven , i will try to post a link to a picture from an old hickey brocure that shows what this blazer looked like new , please is there anyone out there that can give me a ball park figure of what this truck might be worth ,,

Mac, that sounds like a pretty rare Blazer! All of the Hickey add ons sure are neat...I wish I know more about it (production numbers etc)...because it would help you/us determine how much it may be worth.

My best guess on its current value would be about $4-4,500...simply because there is quite a bit of rust and overall wear and tear on the exterior. If you buy it, replace all the rust with new metal and paint it...I bet it would/could bring $10,000 to the right person or collector.

Hey I had a set of those rims on a trialer I bought. It had all four with the center caps. Wish I'd kept them. Put them on a 70 p-up and sold them. moodyholler

IMHO.......At this point, things like "has been driven very little" have very limited value. Typically, the steering wheel does not wear out at the top with "low miles". Frankly, from the looks of it, it is a rust bucket. Without real mechanical info, I would estimate it's value at well less than $4000.00.

I get suspicious when I hear things like "top has never been off", "never been off-road", ect.. Taking the top off and going off-road is what these do well, and these things do not give any indication of current worth.

I would say that you can find MANY other Blazers with far less cancer (rust) that will need no more work than this one.

all of the info is greatly appreciated , i know the fella that has it , he is an old coon hunter , a fellow coon hunter friend of his bought it new through a dealership to do just that , use it as a conn huntin sled in the winter time , then when he passed away his friend the current owner bought it at the estate sale . i looked it over pretty good and that top shows no signs of being off , the current owner is probably 78 years old and i dont see him lifting it off , if i buy it it will strictly be for resale , he has offered it at $1700.00 ,, and not a penny less , i had one of these full convertale tops years and years ago but i dont remember it being worth much when i sold it ,

Wow. Never saw one of those before. Heard the name. I think he did some cars as well. It's sort of a Yenko / Doug Nash sort of operation as I recall.
The roof rack is actualy a factory option. It looks like it appeard first in 75. I have only ever seen one in person.

The rear hoop was also something that is not unheard of. Now the stringers between it and the hoops I had never heard of. Looking at the above brochures and did you know in 75 rear seat shoulder belts were available. I didn't know that. I bet those stringers between the hoops was part of it.

The Drop hood I think is also a Doug Nash thing or maybe a MickeyThompson thing. Nash came up with the part time kits and after his death it was sold to Mile Marker or Nash's compnay became Mile Marker. You can still get a drop hood from Hannaman and a couple other places like US Body source. Now as a dealer option I don't know. The Wagon Wheels are also a factory option.

Now the one that really gets me here is carrier brackets on the back. The spare carier off the passengerside has been a deal option up through about 80. The late 70's are still made by Valley. The brackets are stamped steel late 70's. The brackets were a cast aluminum in the mid 70's. My buddy has a 76 that still has those brackets. Now the driverside brackets are the real mystery. I'd ask about those....never know they may be in the rafters somewhere. Those are rare from that time.

I think what you have is a very rare dealer appearence group. I doubt there were any performance improvements. All the parts I can find referenece to in the dealer option but the hood and that left hand bracket on the carriers.

Interesting find. I don't know if it makes it worth a whole lot more but definatly a neat find.

The grille indicates it is a '75. I hate to say it, but I don't think it would be worth more that $500 if I were paying for it. There is A LOT of rust on that thing.

I would think that truck would be worth $1700 if it does drive as well as you say. Especially with all of the sheetmetal that comes with it. I really miss my '75, if it was closer, I would be interested in it myself.

That looks just like the blazer on the cover of my 69-73 HICKEY catalog, all of those accessories are listed in it, have you looked under that blazer. Hickey also made heavy duty front and rear swaybars, dual front and rear shock kits, skidplates, high capacity diff covers and a front and rear axle truss kit. Lots of cool parts on that old blazer.

Not to steal your post, but I can't help it. Blazerman or anyone else, what info do you have on 1972 Hickey Blazers?? My 72 has the same roof rack and brush guard with those funny sideways chrome tow hooks. plus alot more. How do I get a Hickey catalog?

i got to looking my blazer over a little as well and i always noticed the rear diff cover looks like a babys diaper that has been filled hahaha , it is a big finned aluminum cover and wouldnt ya know right in the center is stamped HE it also has them funky little chrome sideways towhooks up front ,,

Dan, The 1973 catalog I have was found in the console of a 75 blazer I owned years ago, I'm not sure how long Hickey has been out of business.

I scanned the front and rear cover but could not shrink enough to post on the board, I added it to webshots along with a pull out section that shows some of the products in the catalog. It shows a 73 blazer but most all the accessories are listed for 69-72s also. I would post some of the prices but they would make you cry.

Thanks for the pictures! My blazer has the same brush guard, tow hooks, front tow ball, front axle truss, rear tire carrier with gas can etc. No where does it have a "HE" on it? I wonder if its possible that mine could have been a Hickey? or if these were just dealer options? Who knows, but this sure is interesting. My blazer also came with some things on the interior. Roll bar, roll bar light, Level-o-Gage, front axle engage lite, passenger assist handle, compass. Do you have any pictures of interior options available from Hickey?

My blazer has that "stuff" on it. It has the brush guard, rear tank skid plate, transfer case skid plate, nasty looking woodgrain, the pit stop light (sold @ swap), orig. high lift jack (scary!), I believe i have the anti-slip strips?, mind don't have the body by fisher emblem on it. I'll try and put some pics up.
