pyrometer
I was looking at the guages on the auto meter web site, and I keep running into a "pyrometer". What is a pyrometer?

Its basically a high temp thermometer but it has to have a temp sensor or a thermocouple of some sort hooked to it.

A pryometer is an EGT guage. Important if you have a turbo. Mainly used in diesels and turbo diesels.
You use it to help from burning up pistons. The EGT in a turbo diesel gets too hot and you risk burning it up. Maybe not immediately, but it'll shorten the life dramatically. |

They're for diesel perverts. The one on my Cummins truck goes up to 1500 degrees. It's very vital to a hopped up diesel. A Cummins long block can exceed 10 thousand dollars carry out (no labor).
Diesel trucks are used to pull heavy loads, so it's very important to keep from burning it to junk.
