I agree with dubie the 2 piece looks better. That little triangle piece on a one piece looks cheese. I guess if you welded it in and painted it it would look better.

I will be going 1 pc, but on that old "chop top" chev, it will be all laid out(no choice). I have seen too many complaints on 1 pc door glass, & most are about fit & useage....totally understood! Most of the kits dont slide the glass up/ down on the same angle(front to rear on the tracking). i sure dont know it all, but in the time I spent doing auto glass, it sure seems to me that the front & rear angles on the track need to be the same(no curves, or changes in angles) as the glass moves up/ down.....less problems! No doubt, we run into fit issues in the 67-72 doors, but that is no reason for compromise.........crazyL

All of these trucks can go around 120... from the right altitude.



BTW... for anyone wanting to do 1-piece windows on the cheap, I've got a pair of Brothers' glass, brand new, ready to install. You'll need to pick up some wipers (I am told Brothers' sells them but I've not contacted them to verify), and make some brackets. At $100 + shipping, you'll save a small fortune over their $399 price. PM or email me if interested.

I prefer the clean look of the one piece glass so when they ran them on sale many months ago for $279 I bought a set. You will never be able to make the brackets that are necessary for the one-piece glass kit so you're best bet is to wait till they go on sale again or save up your pennies. You can also forget installing them without the instructions.

i like both for different reasons

i have heard horror stories about the one-piece setup though. between that and the cost, i think i will work towards other things first

No, there's a lot more to it than that. You have to modify existing channels, drill them in the correct places, make the triangular filler pieces for the doors, have the correct brackets that are included with the kit etc. This is an engineered setup, not some fly by night backyard creation. These guys obviously went through a lot of trial and error and design work to come up with a well engineered system that works. If you had all the pieces they engineered for the system they could indeed be copied but without them the glass by itself is useless.

I thought that I would ring in here.. Brothers single peice side window kits are engineered kits, and work as well as it is possible for single peice side windows can work in these doors. They can be difficult to install, even with the instructions, but most modifications made to vehicles are. The problem arises when the windows come out of their tracks. This allows the windows to wiggle back and fourth, because there isn't a channel to hold them steady any more. Just the wheels in the regulators and the little corner of the window in the lower rear track. This is just not enough to do the job of holding the window tight. Remember what held the window tight befor the conversion was the Vent window, division bar. One of the peices that you loose when you remove the vent window. However some doors fair better than others. This just depends on the amount of whare your door has. (How far the space has spread where the sqeegy and cat whiskers mount to set) The wider the gap the looser the window will be. This isn't an issue with the kit, but is with the doors. I have tried to come up with a way to tighten up the side to side play, but have come to the conclusion that with out the abillity to reinforce the opening, we are just S.O.L. Otherwise I would install them in my Panel, because I think they look great!! WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Your definition of "engineered" (and by extension "fly by night") and mine are substantially different. Sure, they made some brackets, but there's no rocket science here. The 2 channel brackets are flat steel with some holes in it. The corner piece is a bent aluminum triangle with a hole in it. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the actual kit but I OWN one... bought from Brothers'... and spent a lot of time studying it over the last few years while it sat in the box. The only "custom" items that aren't easily duplicated are the wipers and the glass pieces themselves.

Having said all that... my glass is sold as of yesterday.

Alot of the problems that people are having with the kits is because they do not know what they are doing when they put them in. I have installed two kits and have never had a problem with either of them. Not everyone on here is capable of installing this kit.

Very familiar partner. I too purchased a set from Brothers (as i mentioned in my first post in the thread), installed them in my doors and they operated fine. I have removed them until I finish restoring the truck and paint it at which point I will reinstall them.
