I have a saginaw, and yes it was bent really far back, so I heated it with a torch and bent it forward...pretty ghetto, but the shifter boot covers it anyways

i have also heated & bent, or cut & rewelded shifter handles.....its not ghetto, it "backyard tech" the shifter handle in my longhorn was made from a chunk of 1/2" x 1" flat steel(its not chrome, but works nice). i have heard that guys have used a hurst comp plus shifter for a 57 Belair to fit the bench seat in the truck! i havent tryed it myself, so maybe someone will chime in with details. Best of luck, crazyL

well I wanted to "backyard tech" one too but was advised not too, what do you guys think og cutting up and S-10 shifter and welding some flat iron on it so it can bolt to the shifter?

If you are a welder, i dont see why not.....i havent had any problems with modified shifter handles. Just grab one that pretty much fits the seat, & weld the flat iron on with 2 holes in it to mount it crazyL

Just get a shifter boot and all is well...the difference between bending and buying will not be noticeable unless you are taking your truck to some concourse show, then you might lose some points
