255/50/17's are what i want.

only need 2 of them right now, but will need to get another pair of 275/50/17's later on.

i've been reading lots of reviews of the nitto 450's and most people say they suck with traction and driving.

The 450's are not a great traction tire, but they don't suck for driving. Here's the thing to remember. If a tire is good for traction, expect to buy them pretty often as they will be soft.

Kumho seems to be a popular brand right now and they are not very expensive. I would stay away from BF Goodrich. From my past experience they wear out too fast.

I agree on both accounts.

I have had Kumhos for 3 years now on my wifes 98 on 2 different sets of wheels(16 & 18") and they get great milage for the price and they are a real nice daily tire but I can break them loose very easily with a 305. I'd imagine your engine would make them spin for days.

I had good luck with the 255/50/17's in the BFG comp T/A KDWS on my 96 Impala. They wore a lot better than the Nitto 450's that were on it.

I am running the Falken Ziex S/TZ-01 in a 255/50/17 up front and a 275/50/17 in the rear. They are pretty good I need to replace my two front ones due to wear caused by a sticking brake caliper and a little mis alignment. From Discount Tire the 275's are about $140.01 ea. and the 255's are about $117.01 ea.

those are the 2 temp. rear tires i'll be using(275/50/17 falken ziex s/tz-01) until i get matching tires on all 4 corners

I like my Sumitomo HTR+'s and Falken Ziex 512's.

I don't know if they come in the size you want.

the nitto nt450's and the kumho 712's and 711's are pretty comparable as far as wear and performance. the bfg kdws will last longer, but they arn't directional and you'll sacrifice a little performance.

the bfg kdw and nitto 555 would be a step up performance wise from the 450's and 712's, but cost more and wear faster

I just bought some Nitto 450s for the front of my 95. I had the Pirelli Scorpion p Zero's on it and I would highly suggest staying away from these tires lol. The Pirellis when cold almost felt like the tires were out of balance but after driving them for a while they would level out and ride ok but the Nittos ride really well. I dont know about traction wise with them on the truck (I baby it) but I know my 94 Z28 with T56 that traction is not a word that is used.

I have heard of a lot of people using the Kumho's but I have never had any experience with them personally.

I ran the nitto 555's before I sold my F**D Lightning and they had pretty good bite. but only ran them for like 4 months and then sold it so can not speak for wear. I think they were 295 45 18's.
