Aluminum door panels
Hi guys , Im new to the board but was wondering about this. I started making embossed aluminum door panels and I,m thinking that they would look good in 67-72 chevy pickups because of the flat panels. I am planning on finding a door, fitting a panel to it and then making a nice flame or other design to fit around the door and window cranks and armrest. Do some of you think there would be a market for these.

Nice.. but, I'd like an all aluminum door for more weight reduction.

Looks sharp i think they would go over pretty good myself depending on the price.What kind of price range are you thinking of,I know i would be interested.

I am going to probably sell them for $160 a pair. If I cant get that much I plan on getting out of it all together because of the labor involved. A bead rolled panel is simple to make compared to this panel. |

I'd be interested if the price range was right. Would fit nicely with the aluminum console design I have.

They look nice. I'd put a bead around the edge to make them look a little more finished off. Some of the truck vendors carry aftermarket products. Ya might check around and see if they are interested in carrying them. What's your price?

I'd love a set like those (planned on making my own for my truck someday), but I'd prefer them the stock door panel size (not covering up the bottom part of the door).
EDIT: Oops, just noticed that the pic is for a Camaro, but would still prefer the stock panel size (some like it longer to cover up holes that were cut for speakers).

I worked on a die all afternoon to try and get down the price I need to get on a panel. If it works right it will save me a lot of time and several things I'm having to buy now to do them. If it works right I'll probably be asking around $75-85

Can you anodize them in different colors? How will they attach to the doors? Will the area around the handles be raised or the stock escusions be used?

I'm just trying to get the price of these down right now and it takes a lot of time to make a die. I have a friend at the wrecking yard who is trying to get in touch with a guy that would let me pattern his truck. I dont think I'll be polishing or painting these panels because I'm a one man operation right now and work 14 and 14 offshore so I'll have to make enough panels while I'm home to last 14 days. Hopefully when I get the price down they will start selling. As for the velcrow question a .040 X 24 X 48 aluminum sheet weights about 4 lbs. I dont know if a slamming door and velcro would work. As for the sheet metal screws, there are a lot of factory panels that have screws that you can see. The ones I put in my panel are stainless phillips but you can get the factory looking interior screws at most hardware stores.
