So how rare is it?
Hi Guys
Been off-line for a while, PC went down big time but I've treated myself to a new one for my birthday! OK, I've got my first Chevy pickup on it's way, not a C10 as I first thought but a CST; I'm told it's rare, but everything Chevy in the UK is, so just how rare? Looking thru our publication "Classic American" for the past year I've not seen one, any of you guys got one. Should add it's a pretty straight truck, painted in orange/white; any tips and advice on particular probs with this model would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation Kev |

Kev, first of all, welcome to the board. Or, should I say, welcome back. CST stands for Custom Sport Truck and was the top of the line from '67 thru '70. Usually they were equipped with more options. I don't know how many were produced, though perhaps some board members might have that info.

I promise I won't make any sheep jokes! Welcome to the board from sunny Lancashire, there are a couple of other British owners on here too. You'll find the people here know more about these trucks than is humanly possible and have been a great help to me. There are also some good vendors selling everything you need to restore or keep your truck running. Are you planning to get to any shows at all, I'm hoping to get to Stars and Stripes at Tatton Park nr Manchester if I can sort my starter problems and get some new tailpipes (assuming it ever stops bloody raining!

I thought cst was short for custom sort of like the limited / ltd thing.

Does it look like this? LOL This is my '70 CST when I bought it 4 years ago for $3000. I jumped at the chance to buy it because it was the first CST that I had ever seen that wasn't in a car or truck show. Now that I've learned a little more about them I realize that they aren't as rare as I once thought, but the 69's and '70s were always my favorite anyway, so I'm happy. The CST was really nothing more than a trim package. Mine had no tilt, buckets, tach, or cruise, but did have the deluxe interior, 350/350, and 2-tone paint with upper and lower trim.

Welcome Kev. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Wales, beautiful country. Hope all goes well with your truck. I can't think of any problems peculiar to the CST. Like was said, it's the high option model, so should have some goodies on it. All of these trucks rust in the same places - rocker panels, door bottoms, cab corners, drip rail, etc. Did you have ours imported or find it there? This is getting to be quite the international group. Cool.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Hugger, it's just like that only an eight-foot bed.
Glad you enjoyed Wales,Scott; just moved down here myself from Derby, England last November. I found the truck by chance whilst out delivering in my rig, always wanted one and it just looked so right. I'd bought a Mercedes Sprinter van last year to move home with, now it's no longer useful so I thought, "OK why not?". She's costing me £5800, roughly $8200, but that's restored to running order, all bodywork done and painted, tested and registered. The guy I bought it from drove it across the States from Virginia, he's not a dealer as such but does it more as a paying hobby. He's also got one of those cabover Ford pick-ups (Econoline?) which is running but unrestored, plus a lot of old British pick-ups. Looking forward to having her on the road next month; more info as I get it. Regards Kev |

I hope restored doesn't mean 'washed and painted with rattle can' which is how my 'restored' Mini came from the UK years ago. I'm sure yours will be as advertised.
