I have a '69 Truck Data Book, dated April 1 of '69. I also have teh Standard catalog of Chevy trucks. Neither book has any listings of tilt steering on a '69. There are no mentions of a tilt wheel for '70, either. In fact, only 2 percent of the '71's were equipped with tilt, which is the first year it was offered. I suspect that if your truck has tilt, it was added, or your cab isn't a '69 or your glove box door is from another truck. The VIN's should match on the body and on the Data Tag on the glove box door.

For your red paint, the paint code for solid red paint should be: 514. If it was a 2-tone, it would be 544 and special two-tone would be 593.

Bucket seats, as long as the truck doesn't have the Custom Comfort and Appearance Package, would be A50.

Style mirrors???? What are those? There is the standard mirrors that they had when new. From there, you go to 7.5x10.5 inch painted mirrors: D29. If the same size mirrors were Stainless Steel, the code would be DG4. If it had 7x16 mirrors, the code would be DG5. and if it had 17.25 inch swinging arm mirrors, the code would be DH3.

Chevloray...........man you have a world of info. Sound like some things I wanted to do weren't even offered in 69. I have the original invoice on the truck and it was white/olive green with a code of 4534AD and the glove label says the same. Does that mean if I change it to red the code would be 4514AD?
I am doing a frame off restoration and wonder now if I should go with bucket over the original bench and tilt over the original col.........what would you do. I have not purchased either.

It's your truck, so you can do whatever you want to it.

Sounds like you are intending to add some options and then create a data plate for the glove box door, right? The paint code on my truck only has three numbers, I think. There might be a couple of letters with the numbers. My truck was solid black, with the Custom Comfort and Appearance package, plus upper and lower body side trim. It is also a factory air cab, with P/S, P/B, etc.

You could have ordered/bought a new '69 with bucket seats, but it couldn't be done with the Custom Comfort and Appearance package. The description in the book reads:
Seat:
For Pickup & Chassis-Cab models
Bucket;
driver & passenger, includes carpeting and console; not available
when Custom Comfort and Appearance is ordered
With Custom Sport Truck...A50 $113.00
Without Custom Sport Truck...A50 $139.90

I thought you were trying to decode a data sheet, which is why I made the comments.

Yeah, that book is awesome. Bought it from another board member from Phoenix. I like literature and data....I deal in details, which is why I tend to get a "little" bit wordy.
