Motor mount to stand bolts

I got my truck disassembled and can't find the original bolts that go through the engine stand into the mount. I read here somewhere they are 7/16-14 so I bought a couple, but when I put it in it got really tight. I figured it was supposed to be tight to lock the bolt in but I ended up ripping out the nut from the rubber in my brand new mount. 3/8 bolts are swimming in the hole in my other new mount but I can't even get the 7/8 bolt started. Any help would be appreciated.

The nuts in the mounts should be for the 7/16-14 bolts as you tried. I would try running a tap through the nuts.

Yep, modern parts store motor mounts aren't exactly the epitome of quality. They usually have some rubber goobers down in the threaded hole. The tap should clear it out.

7/16 bolt and put some groovin music on the radio. It usually takes a few minutes to get everything lined up.

Ya, I was wondering if they could be metric. But I thought to myself "who would make metric threads in a part for a 1970 chevy". I ended digging up another new one that came with the truck from LMC. Guess what, same deal as the others. So, I drilled them out and tapped them for the correct bolt. It was a real PITA to tap that thing it must be made of some space age steel or something. All is well now the motor is bolted in and I can move on to something else. BTW The first two were from checker\schucks\kragen the third was from LMC and all had "Made In India" stickers on them. Thanks for all your help, its been fun.

Metric, now I wouldn't have thought of that.
