What did you get done "July 4th edition"
I have been out most of the day and just got in from a big firework display. That's why this weekends What did yu get done feature is so late.
I worked most of the weekend so I didn't get much done. Today I went to a small car show, then came home and spent some time organizing my new tool box. After that we went with friends to the local horse track for a huge 4th of July show. It was awesome What did you get done? |

Got the top end installed on my engine, and got it and the tranny installed in the truck yesterday. Today will consist of remounting the crossmember and measuring for the driveshaft. Hopefully they are not way behind and it wont take to long to get.

Tried fixing an exhaust leak on the Dually. At first I thought it was just a donut leaking, so started out replacing that. Broke a stud off on the exhaust manifold trying to get the tail pipe off. So I figured I'd take the manifold off to drill the stud out and replace. That's when I noticed about a 4" long crack down the side of the manifold. Pulled it off, back side was cracked too. Took it over to my father in law's and he welded it up for me - not sure if it will hold or not but going to give it a shot. Should know this evening try putting it back together. If it doesn't hold I'll put a set of headers on it.
I've had several people tell me their 454's got worse gas mileage with headers? Anyone have a simlar problem? Was thinking about getting some of those Summit headers for $79.95

this weekend, nothing done on the truck, turned 17 on wednesday i think, eldest brother can come home, blew alot of crap up last night, my brother Ken has taught me the fun of M60s.
I've had several people tell me their 454's got worse gas mileage with headers? Anyone have a simlar problem? Was thinking about getting some of those Summit headers for $79.95-beyond nope, your 454 will get better gasmilleage with them on, because it makes the ehxuast of your truck able to leave the heads more efficiently so the next intake charge won't have so much of the exhaust in it. now some people may have had probelsm getting worse gas milleage but that may have been from getting in to much. i have the same problem with mine, if i drive like a "sane" person my truck will get 12.5-13 all day long, but if i show off and do stupid stuff with it, i can expect 8. as far as the summit headers, thats what i got and they work great. come with new bolts, gaskets, and reducers on the collecter to boot. summit stuff is always cheaper but just as good as name brand because name brand companies make the summit stuff. like the summit cames, thoes are made by crane.

Did a tune up on the 350 TBI that is going in my 77 Blazer and drove it around to see the impact it made (still in the burb I'm pulling it from). Drained the gas out of the Blazer tank to get it ready for being replaced with the new tank with fuel pump. Pulled the hood, right fender, inner fender well, and grill. Just can't wait to drive it again!

As I have said before, I had two surgeries on my left ankle 6.5 weeks ago. As of last Thursday night, I am finally allowed to put weight on it. Too bad most of the muscle has wasted away, and it won't really hold me up.
I took my first couple of steps without crutches last night, and I changed the oil on my wife's car yesterday. Hopefully I will be actually walking soon. Slonaker |

Yard work. Worked on the mower since I bent the blade when a snake surprisedme during the mowing and I sorta hit something hard as my scared butt jumped out of the way. Cleaned the 96 this morning. Today is rest until class tonight.
