Question Windsheild Questions - Help Please

No Windsheild In My Project, Here R My Questions,

What Trim / Seal Kit Do I Need To Put Windsheild In ?

Stainless Kit ? Standard Or Custom Rubber ?

Should I Buy The Glass From A Shop Or The Board ?

Should I Go With A Local Glass Shop For The Install ?

Do I Want Tinted Or Shaded Glass ? What's The Difference ?

I Welcome All Opinions Positive Or Negative, Thank You

Save yourself a lot of headaches by having a shop put it in but do some haggeling as they jack up the price for insurance work. They pay about $55. for the glass and it is from Mexico. I would remove the old one, really super clean the frame and then give it a coat of POR15 or some similar rust protectant. If your final project is going to have all the CST trim, then I would go for the stainless trim delux rubber. If you are OK with plain rubber, thats even better as less hassle. You should be able to get the glass & install for around $150-175. You may have to spend a few $$ more for the rubber or provide your own. Either way, you want a no-leak warranty which will be important. Good Luck-------Huck

Thanks Huck, Joe Did All The Work, There Is No Windsheild In It,
Tub Was Media Blasted, Primed With Dp90? And Primered. I Think
It Is Just Ready For New Glass, Before Or After It Is Painted ?

If you can, get paint on it before you put it in. With just primer it's going to attrack moisture under the seal ands create bigger problems down the road.

Here's a few considerations...
(1) Trim/Seal Kit? No installation "kit" required; seal is made by windshield rubber gasket when installed and then "pumped" with sealer (especially the top two corners and down each side from the top corners about 10-12" !!)
(2) Stainless Trim would require the "Deluxe" gasket; Standard windshield rubber will not accept stainless trim
(3) Glass Shop or Board?? Your call but I'm unaware of any Board vendors selling new windshields although there might be some..just don't know.
(4) Local Install?? Members have done it themselves with little or no problem. I opted for a new windshield and Deluxe gasket for stainless trim..I did one DELUXE a while back and fought with it for too long. The stainless trim MUST be installed in the rubber on the windshield prior to installation in the cab. I have all my glass work done by the same shop; they spent 3 hours getting it in the correct way...I am glad I opted for their labor. TOTAL COST for everything (W/S & Labor) was $189 installed which I felt was $$ well-spent.
(5) Tinted or Shaded: Tinted is the entire windshield / Shaded is the upper portion only. I have both (tinted and shaded and am glad I opted for this version).
Trial fitting might be a good idea as you indicate, but always have the frame painted BEFORE final installation.
