AC on all the time..
I've got to figure this out and don't know where to begin...90 burb front and rear AC. The plug under the hood, that connects to the compressor is all burnt up, when i do plug it in (rig it), the compressor starts running, even if the dash controls are off, or set on "heat". The damn compressor runs all the time- I notice a burnt wire smell, and saw smoke once in the truck when i plug the compressor wire into the compressor and drive around town- where should i look for the problem?? Thanks-Steve

I had a similar problem in that the A/C would run in the "vent" position. But, my problem was in the dash control unit. The selector switch started to burn up.
However, your problem sounds like a possible short at the compressor itself since your plug is melting down. Continuous running shouldn't do that, but a short could. Good luck!

I checked the voltage at the plug, it's got 12 volts all the time, so I'm thinking maybe there is a relay that got burnt up?? Would there be one under the hood, or under the dash?? I've also thought about changing the selector switch, as maybe that's the problem??/
thanks, Steve

Air Cond diagram 90 Burb
Hi,
If you would provide your fax #, I have the 1990 Suburban electrical and other factory manuals for the dealer shops. They are great! I could fax you the diagram, the explaination of the system, and the troubleshooting flow chart. Note that the system is not all that complex, but is somewhat obscure in its layout. Reply direct to monitor@referencevideo.com and put "AIR CONDITIONING REQUEST" in the subject line. regards John
