Newbie just got a truck, link to pics enclosed
Here's a site where I posted some pics the seller sent me (sorry for popup add):
clicky the linky Just scroll down and across to see the truck pics. It's a site I got for free and haven't ever really used except to play with. I know the pics are not enough for a valuation, but whadda you guys think I paid. Let's see if I got the deal I think I did. Tranny has to be rebuilt. Reverse only works after it warms up and then it jumps into it. Lots of crud on motor and tranny and rear. Some rusting through of the rocker panels and one front fender directly in front of the tire on the bottom. Power front discs. |

Forgot. It's a 72 with 350/350. Was an a/c truck but air has been removed. Housing and brackets remain in engine compartment. I drove it home about 25 miles down Interstate without incident.

Alright! A Custom Deluxe! Is it going to be yellow some day? Have fun fixing it up.
I'm working on a 71 Custom Deluxe Short-Fleet (350/350/AC/PB/PS) that was originally yellow (Canary?) and will be going back yellow. Welcome to the board! |

Good catch on the factory tilt. It's very loose though. Can it be refurbed or just replaced with a new column. It looked like some guys are using new car columns.

that would be the perfect truck for a sleeper! you can make these trucks pretty fast bc they run standard chevy small blocks and big blocks for the most part. what are your plans for it? nice truck btw its pretty clean!

I actually bought the truck for my son to drive and to tow my Mustang a few times a year. I think the 1/2 ton can handle it if I keep the trailer as light as possible when I have it built. I liked the fact these trucks have such a great aftermarket and that I can probably always get my money out of it due to collectability. I'm planning to do a combination of restoration and retro-mod. Probably go back in with a 350 (if not freshen up the one that's there). Debating whether to freshen the 350 Turbo tranny or freshen my buddy's 700R40 and put in the stuff to make it work. I plan to put in a modern interior with buckets (captains chairs?) and console ASAP. The seat is trashed. I may also try to get a new column at the same time if I can get all that stuff from the same vehicle. What modern stuff will bolt right in?
I also plan to replace the missing A/C with either a stock replacement R-134 system or just an underdash unit. I need to do some body work on the rocker panels and a few other places. What is the best advice for this stuff? |

Oh yeah,
I picked up these wheels on the way home along with two tires to replace the two front ones that were shot. I move the smaller tires on the rear to the front and put the two "new" bigger ones on the rear. Also changed front shocks today. Was getting sea sick at speed. |

Welcome from the Dfw Metroplex
From the looks of that seat cover it appears that you may have the Highlander option. It is not really really rare but it is a 72 only option. Check the glovebox option sheet for the option package.

Welcome from Sacramento and another Custom Deluxe owner. Blue is cool and so is that Stang. Guess the blue truck matches those blue ovals eh?
