I bought an 86 chevy 3/4 ton for parts and it has an exhaust like ive never seen before. It has some manifolds that look like headers and a factory dual exhaust. Is this junk or is it worth anything?

I'd say any dual exhaust is better than single exhaust... Might wanna just pick it up to sell it if it is fairly cheap...

My 85 Chevy C30 towtruck has factory headers. They work well. I would snag them up and use them.

I'd sure like to see those. The only factory headers I ahve ever seen were on pre 1973 cars...never seen any on a truck.

Ive got a pair on my 85 C20 It had came with a 454 with steel tube manifold headers but i swapped over to a 350 and managed to score a set of headers that even bolted up to the big block exhaust

My truck is a scottsdale and it has factory duals and heat sheilds over the pipes for the entire length to the mufflers its like someone bent a 2 1/2 pipe then bent a 3 just like it sawwed it in half and welded it over it.. Mines stainless and the best exhaust ive ever had. only bad thing is it uses a 15 dollar donut gasket.

I think I've seen a burb with those headers on it. California emissions setup with 2 air pumps and lots of hoses. Did the ones you looked at have an expansion bellows between the 2 front and rear tubes?

I already own the exhaust. It sounds like the same exhaust mentioned by 1972c10. bost sides have a tube coming from each pipe going into a black canister that would have been mounted on either side of the carb. I will get some pics as soon as possible. does this setup have any value, as i do not need them.

GM made stainless steel exhaust for motor homes and other trucks that generated a lot of exhaust heat. They kind of look like headers.

If youv'e got 'em keep 'em!! When they are cool, see if a magnet sticks to them. It won't stick to SS.

If they crack they can be welded and fixed, unlike cast iron exhaust. (yea, I know you can weld cast iron, but it's a B---H!).

454's under load (like towing and being a motorhome) generate a lot of heat.

Yeah Scottsdale type equip I like mine I had the 454 version but changed to sbc and i managed to pick up a set Belive it or not my whole exhaust is cat convertor free and stainless. At least to the muffs

I welded the A.I.R. Holes up that was my only complaint you cant buy a plug to fit them like you can with older cast manifolds I took electric box knockouts and ground them down a little to make them fit and welded them over the holes Its a metric flare nut

On my big block i has just sqeezed the tubes shut and welded them Here is a pic of mine installed
