Here is something most of us can benefit from, coating the unprotected areas of our cabs with a rust inhibitor, in this case epoxy primer and topcoated with appropriate topcoat. This cab received new "A" pillars (NOS

) and kick panel areas along with floor, and inner and outer rockers along with replacement of several other areas. The inside of the cab supports were coated also.

A used a modified pressure pot and spray wand set up was used. It worked very well to get inside the "A" pillars and inside the rockers as shown.

Looks like it was made out of regular copper tubing?

Christopher, its the kind that come with the pump up sprayers that can be found at most any hardware/home improvement store. It was cut in half and lengthened with copper tubing soldered in the middle. The spray tip came from a tractor supply and is used for crop spraying. The tip that came with wand didn't work very well. The tip seen in the pics was machined down on one end to fit the tubing and on the other end a "bevel" was made to improve atomization.

Just a heads up.......This can be a little messy. You may want to put a drop cloth down before getting started.

Thanks for the tips. I was wanting to make a wand for spraying inside the rockers and what you put together will work for me.

i have all that stuff laying around the shop, bro-in-law gave me a 2 gallon pot a few years ago and i never had any use for it (til now). thanks for the idea efabman

silvertonguedevil, you will have to experiment with the pressure somewhat, it won't take much. As far as how far it will spray, depends on the pressure, the configuration of the tip, and the type of fluid being sprayed, among some others. I think the spray pattern is probably more important than distance when it comes to inside of rockers, etc. One thing I do know is that its easy to use more pressure than necessary. To much pressure uses up more material and makes a bigger mess. But who cares about messes, Right?
