Just when I thought it was a nice day to take the truck for a spin and rev the snot out of it the german autobahn this happens:

I noticed a few drops of some kind of fluid near the rear wheel, uh oh..not good, so I crawled under it, tire all wet,m paint coming off the drums..damnit, we have a leaking cylinder. Well, guess I'm off to the shop to get some new ones. Figure I'll do both sides at the same time

At least it's not sitting there alone, it's keeping my other POS car company

Sucks about the brake drums! Not such an expensive fix though

That Corvette is gonna be insane by American standards, I can only imagine what people in the European area who are used to slow diesels are gonna think, lol!

Should have been working on that today but the truck is more important now because next week there's a big uS car meeting that I want to attend...if only the parts come in on time

Parts weren't that expensive, only 60$ for the cylinder (yeah I know, way more than in US but I need it fast and it could have been more with the prices they charge here)

Also, damn mster cylinder decided to cough up some fluid after I had the lid off, somehow the rubber flap thing inside didn't seal properly and fell in the reservoir and fluid seeped by...result, valve cover paint all messed up. Had to blast them and repaint so I went with a new scheme.

I hate master cylinders, or at least my dad does. He is always telling me how he had to replace the stupid thing on Ol red so freakin often b/c it kept going out or whatever it is master cylinders do. I'm scared one day im gonna be trucking along and push the brakes and little happens...

Those are WHEEL cylinders that went out on his truck.
One of my wheel cylinders leaks a little bit...but until I get some money, I'm stuck. I'm gonna replace the shoes/cylinders, then pads/rotors when I get some money. (Heaven knows I need them changed, I think they're stockers!!)

You can get rebuild kits for them for just a few bucks, comes with new springs and seals. You need a miniature honing tool though to hone the inside of the cylinder, thats how I do mine.

I have a small hone, also a small bottle brush. I closely inspected the bore and pistons, there seems to be nothing wrong with them and the seals between spring & piston are also not torn and edges are smooth. I'll just replace it, somehow rebuilding stuff like this only works for a short period of time and they eventually start to leak again unless you remachine the bore and install oversize pistons and stuff. Same goes for P.St. valves (vettes have those) and calipers. Once they are slightly pitted they become an instant nightmare.

Jon, nah, that stuff is all hiding in the corner somewhere. It still is a crossram manifold but a tad different.

Now the prices those quotes sound like remans to me but new is still under $25 for sure on aftermarket. New GM at the dealer I could see bing that high but wheel cylinders are not rocket science.
