how to remove a PS pulley

I have taken off a few pulleys in my day from the slightly more modern PS pumps that do not have a nut retaining them. It is always a chore espically if you don't have the right tool.

Now what about the earlier varieties with the nut on the shaft? Do they come off as hard as there slightly more modern counterpart?

Thanks
