Wipers quit working in my 85 after awhile - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

If I have been driving in the rain for an extended period of time my wipers end up slowing down and then stopping. If I let it sit for a while they will start working again. Should I just get a new wiper motor or could it be something else?

sounds like a tired wiper motor. not sure if you can rebuild them, im sure an ingenious person could. new ones are core refundable from LMC.

52 bucks at advance auto with a core.

yeah im fixing to go wash and wax ol red, and while im at it im gonna take off the water hoses for whipers and unclog them, the pump works but the lines are clogged.

my pump evidently doesn't work in mine, the wires were cut so I re-connected them but it still doesn't work, oh well.

I tried rebuilding mine, but I wasn't able to get it working as good as it should. You can't rebuild the motor, but can work on the top side pump / arm mechanics. I ended up paying over 200 bucks for a new one, with me taking a core in. Works much better

yeah my motor is great, and the pump works good; i hear it clicking away at the clogged up lines/outlets. i really outta fix that b/c i can't stand dirty windshields for more than 5 seconds.
