Question...."Grafting" a pickup "curved" window frame onto a set of panel truck doors

Has anyone grafted just the curved part of the front door window channel off of a pickup onto a panel/suburban door? I have a set of doors off my 67 panel that are in pretty good shape, much better than the ones that are on my truck....and I'd like to use them. I'm not too keen on changing out the entire window channel, just the curved part in the back.

Can it be done? Any pros/cons? Opinions are also welcome.

Thanks for anything.

TJ

The sub/panel doors are a bit rarer than PU doors.Maybe you should let someone have a shot at them. They would probably trade a good set of doors for yours and save you the change.

Hi PD, I've listed my panel doors on ebay a few times, as well as this board, and I've yet to have any nibbles, let alone any bites. Maybe I'll give it a try one more time.

Thanks.

I`ve done the opposite
I changed the channel on a truck door to make it a suburban door. I cut the channel at the top of the vent window in the corner with a sawzall ,and drilled the spot welds where it goes into the door. Putting the new piece in I used two screws to temporarily hold the channel where it goes into the door. Made sure the angle at the top was right, clamped and welded it together. Hope this helps.

You may find someone willing to swap truck doors for your panel doors.

I think I'll clean up the panel doors with my angle grinder and a 200 grit disc to make sure there's no rust-through on the outer skins, and go from there. There's a tad bit of scaly looking rust on the outer skins, but then again, it was an IL truck from day one, so these doors actually aren't that bad. Hopefully I'll know more by the end of the week.

Thanks again.
