Anybody know what this fits?

Here is a grill # 473684. I tried to find out by the # on the 67-72 board section and had no luck. So I am posting a PIC here to see if anyone can ID.
Thanks for looking, Mike

Looks like a 73-77 Malibu/El Camino grille.

Mounting tabs are wrong for 73-91 square body. I'm thinking a low tim van with single headlights. Maybe a astro.

the number does not match with the pic :
on the Impala , you have eight vertical rows , while on the other pic , there are six vertical rows...

Baron I m not trying to argue with you I am simply researching this now as it has me curious . From what I see online it seems to be a late model 77-79
78 is when the grill changed , but it is listed on a few sites by the number that was given by Mike Files as a 77-79. this is the other info I found.

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/278209

The Impala “S” model and Sport Sedans were dropped. All models had pillars. Impalas had an 8 x 3 hole eggcrate grille pattern with center Bowtie emblem, plus quad rectangular headlamps over quad park/signal lamps. The new Impalas were shorter in length, taller in stature and narrower. Impala embodied the new image of the full-size American car - smaller, lighter, more efficient. (For example, even with its trim dimensions, the new Impala featured increased headroom, legroom and trunk space.) The formula seemed to work. All-time sales passed the 12-million mark. The Impala had adapted once again. The 1977 Impala/Caprice was a style leader

1978 brought about few changes except for front and rear styling treatments. The Impala carried a new horizontal-bar grille with a Bowtie above rather than on the grille itself.

I do not own a 77-79 impala nor have I ever , so I can not agree or dispute first hand. All I knwo is it isn't a truck grille

Cool deal. Like I said I was going by the web info for this and again the website said Impala not Caprice Classic, as do the pics on ebay etc. I suppose there could be reasons everyone would post them as Impalas when they are not, its beyond me why tho. Lotsa neato info out there on them. I've never owned 70s vehicles besides trucks and a torino years ago, to new for me Thanks for the clarification!!!! I might email all these sites and let them know they are wrong too (j/k)

I am curious as to what the differences are on the impala and caprice classic. I cant find all that much info on the specific differences. this site shows this to be an impala, and to me it looks the same?

the main difference are visible on the front of the car , the impala has four square lights with the turn signal light just under , while on the Caprice the turn signal lights are on the bumper

the front lights on the Impala are a little higher than on the Caprice , and there is a visible difference on the back , where the backing lights on the caprice surrounds the License plate , while on the impala , the backing lights are into the rear lights

the hood & fenders are just the same

But this is only applicable to 1977-1979 Chevy's , don't ask me more on later models , it would become intricate

the pic's below come from a 1977 catalogue , the Impala is the red car , the Caprice being the blue one...

I hope it is a Caprice , because there were so many changes & updates on those cars that you could be wrong at any time...

on the interior , the Impala were only available with Vynil or Vynil/cloth seats , while on the Caprice , it was almost always velour seats , with the front seats being 50/50 split with dual armrests

the only way to find if the car you're looking for is a Caprice or Impala , is to search through Google with the fabrication year...

and beware , like all the GM cars built during that period , they all are rust buckets :p
