where to get brake proportioning valve
i am replacing the master cylinder on my 71 gmc 3/4. where can i get a brake proportioning valve. i think im gonna go with the one at gmcpauls but was just wondering where else because i cant seem to find them

I bought mine at the chevy dealer $75.00. It's oem and didn't have to pay shipping. It took 3 days to bring it in.

Not to take any buisness from our fine parts vendors, however there is an aftermarket route you might want to look into.
If you were to get an adjustable prop-valve, then you can fine tune it to where your rears lock up just before the fronts, and then when you are loaded down with crap in the back, or a heavy trailer, you can add more braking in the rear since the back wheels won't lock up prematurly. The newer F*rds have something like this plumbed in, but it adjusts depending on the amount of weight in the bed. Pretty good Idea IMO. (Semi trucks have been doing it lke that for years) |

also i have another question. the red brake warning light is always on in my fuel gauge i think it is, and if i unhook the wire into the proportioning valve it turns off. what does the red warning light mean?

The light would be on with wire connected because prop valve is sensing low brake pressure when its connected.
