Portland OR Swap Meet Question.
I have never gone to one. I HAVE however, tried to get down the freeway past the expo center when the swap meet is going on. Traffic is a mess. The thought of parking scares me. Where does a guy park if he isn't early? Also, Is it mostly indoors? If there is a bunch of outdoor stuff? I will need a raincoat for this weekend it sounds like. Darren

Usaully just park east of the expo center. When you get off the freeway head east.Just follow every body. There are a couple of large lots to park in. There are shuttle buses (free) to take you there and back. You will pay for parking and admission.

I went yesterday and helped my buddy setup his booths. Parking is a pain in the ass because the swap meet takes up the entire expo center and all of the parking lots. I would park near Delta Park and take the free bus. You can drive in the gates late in the day to pickup big parts if you need to. There is a lot of stuff there this year for our trucks. I saw some good deals but I don't have any money this year. Last year I bought a complete GMC grill with everything for $30.00. I always find a lot of good parts.

Last time I went, we followed the signs to parking. They took us all the way over by the entrance, around the top by Jansen beech and then back to the east side of the freeway. It took almost an hour to get there and get parked. Once we were finally there, the shuttle was easy. My advice is to do what Steven B said and go directly to the east side of the freeway and catch the shuttle. This will save you more time for browsing!

I just got back from going this morning. I got there at 6:30 and the place was full. definatly take the shuttle unless you want to walk about 2-3 miles and most of the stuff is outside so bring a raincoat. I saw some great deals like 400sb heads rebuilt for $100 and a '67 327 block in decent shape for $100-125 and a buttload of holly carbs if you are looking for any. I walked around for about 6 hours and still didn't see everything but found 6 '69 chevy hotwheels for $6. Oh and bring a wagon or cart to haul your goods around with.
have fun, Devin ------------------ '67 C10 LWB FLEETSIDE, WEAK 305 UNTIL I CAN GET THE 400SB REBUILT, TH400, 3.73 REAR SALEM, OREGON http://www.freephoto-i.net/browse.ph...e=DCP_0003.JPG
