1967: Was there Custom and a CST?
Now since we have this up in the air just when DID the CST option appear? Someone on another thread says in 67 there were three levels which I find hard to believe so I am going to be researching. I have two 67's now and they both say only Custom on the side. One is even a bone stock loaded 67 GMC factory original with factory red bucket seat and the fender louever chrome emblem says Custom. I allways thought the CST Z84 option (Custom Sport Truck) was first marketed in the 1969 models and later became Cheyenne in 71?
I feel reproduction parts has confused many as they show Custom and CST door emblems repo for 67-68. CST upper door emblems was marketed and used on 69 up Blazers. I thought Custom models were used in 67 just as were on the 66's and what I have seen 67 GMC's too. Mark

The GMC would not have had the CST labels, but I have seen 67 and 68 Chevy trucks with the CST package, and emblems under the windows. In '68, a truck had to be either the Custom or CST to have the special 50th anniv. paint scheme. The bucket seats with the fold down armrest were standard with the CST package in '67 also, iirc.

What does the glove box id show for a code for that CST package? Just what was the difference in the packages? Mark

I learned something new with that data label. Now I wonder what came with that Z84 package? Did this truck have the bucket seat bench? Very interesting truck. Thanks.

Solver...
You also answered a question I had... I always wondered if '67s came with factory tach's... I have tach dash to go into mine , mine did not have from factory... now, if I only knew if '67s came with factory tilt wheel? Hotfun... My truck is also a 67 CST, small window, A/C, P/S, P/B, 327, TH400, 3pc bucket seat... if it only looked as good as that sounds... But, I also have a '67 Custom, big window, 283, M/T, no-A/C, no-P/S, no-P/B, bench seat... the only thing these trucks have in common... both blue, both are long box, both have the chrome trim around cab, and chrome trim on pedals, and both look like crap and need alot of attention...

That answers the question. THe bucket seat must have been the CST package. My 67 GMC 3/4 Custom that will be my donor for my project was a factory bucket seat truck. The only badging GMC used was the front fender louver with the Custom script. This truck was all original with the all original red interior but at some point the glove box label disappeared. Thanks very much solver you have a very interesting collection there.

I'm sure there is a option code for the bucket seats. But, My trucks are about 18 miles away in a field, so looking at my options list would have to be at a later date.

I can list what all came in the z84 option package later on today...however, I can say that 67 was the only year that buckets was part of the Z84.

Based on advertising literature I have (Which may not be exactly correct.) Here's how the Custom and CST options break down for 67.
Custom Cab = Full depth foam seat with color keyed fabric and vinyl trim, left any right side arm rests, right hand padded sunshade, cigar lighter, cowel insulation, underbody coating and embossed vinyl door trim panels with bright retainer. I think that there was also a Custom Appearance option for 67 only. For 68 I think the two "Custom" options above were combined. (I don't know the code) which includes (From memory now so this may not be complete.) chrome trim around the windshield and back window chrome vent shades possibly the additon of chrome trim around the grill openings and headlights. 67 CST also added to the above, Chrome trim around the headlights and grill openings CST emblem, Bucket seats, Carpet, Chrome ft bumper, Bright metal trim on pedals Upgraded knobs? 68 options were changed somewhat from above. It did not automatically include the bucket seats. (As mentioned previously.) There may be other differences between the 67 and 68 custom/cst options.

andy i thought so too, i have the original glove box at my dads with the option sheet and it lists it as a cst truck, and there is no bucket seat option on the option sheet, would it be included in the cst code or should it be seperate in the options?

My 67 with the custom badge.
Hey 69GMC you said that the bucket seats were standard with the custom package. Was a bench seat an option? That's what I have.
