I'm pretty sure none of those are '72. 72's don't have that much overall curve to them. I would say that 2 of them are 67-68 and 2 of them are 69-71, not sure which is which. There are plenty of tow hook experts on here who would know for sure, but I'm pretty sure they aren't '72.

I was just a little too slow on the post. Thanks for clearing that up Teeitup. So, are those sets just mixed up, or did they have both opposing and same direction hooks or what?

67-68 are supposed to go different direction, also the 69-72 style in top right go different direction, the 72 only style, bottom 2 sets go same direction.

All 4 sets are for 67/68 . I need a set of the 69/71 tow hooks . Or maybe even a set of the 72 . Jose

Randy just asking but would a cruise control set-up be a fair trade for the 72 hooks ?

If you can buy hooks that are the same shape and mounting holes as these, PM me, I'll buy several sets. Tow hooks were a hard to find and rare option for the GM line of trucks.

I honestly had no Idea what the correct years were for the tow hooks. Thanks Teeitup for showing me difference. So they are 67-68 hooks. Now the people who sold them to me a few years ago said " what they had in stock is what they put on the trucks" I wasn't there then so I don't know. But by looking at them....they (pic 3 & 4) look the same as far as aged and weathered. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on this topic. Any help from others is most welcome.

I do not have my pic here at work but the hooks mount on the flat outside of the frame. The tips point to the rear (curl front to back) and the twisted ones have the points out.
Think of it this way. If you were off the road and needed pulled. You would hook to the lowest side of your vehicle and when the towing chain was tight, it would pull into the hook. Not slip around and slide off the hook.
Story of my life, down and out. LOL

I thought that the 67-68 hooks mounted "backwards" with the open end of the hook facing forward(thus the major curve in them). If mounted like in the pic Jose has how will you ever get the bottom bumper bolt in?

Matthew

Very good Mathew you know i have looked at that picture and never did notice . I high-jacked that pic from a previews post by another member . You are right it doesn't seem that the bumper would bolt on .

Jose, the pic you have is correct for how 69-72 hooks bolt up. The holes on those are straight up and down, and the open part faces the rear. The 67-68 have the open end forward. I am still wondering why they changed the design.
