Brake system question
I need to get a new master cylinder. How do I tell what kind of brake system I have? The factory sticker that was supposed to be in the glove box is gone. Anybody have any idea? Autozone has three options:
#1 - JD3, JD5, JD6 #2 - JB3, JB5, JB6 #3 - JB7, JD7 What is the difference? I have an 82 K-2500 with 1-ton axles, any suggestions? Thanks. Luke

Did you check the driverside wheel well / inner fender area under the hood? Im not sure what rpo it would be for 3/4 4x4. The JD5 is the heavy duty brake system for a 1/2 ton.

There is no other info under the hood. Thanks for your input.

Maybe you can take the old master with you and match it, if you can get the dummies at Nozone to pull them for you. Other than this, I don't know how you can tell.

Yeah, I guess I'll do that, if I find the old one. Tore everything down a while ago. Thanks

Spongy brakes
Ok, got my new master cylinder. Everything looks good, bled the brakes 3 times, no bubbles at all, but the brake pedal is still spongy and the truck does not stop good at all. I'm using a 1/2 ton 2wd brake booster in my 3/4 ton 4wd truck. Maybe that is my problem?? Any suggestions?? Thanks

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder?
