Question Alternator upgrade question

Fellas , I have lost the post that covered the required connections for using an inernally regulated alt. on my 67.
How are the old regulator wiring harness connections rerouted? Seems like you connect 1 to 3 and 2 to 4 but the photo looked like 1 to 2 and 3 to 4. I should have posed this question while the post was current...now i can't find it in the archives. Thanks for any help!

You don't have to do that. Remove the blue and white wires completely. Extend the brown wire to connector #1. Loop a red wire from connector # 2 to the battery terminal. Hook up the main charge wire to the battey terminal also. Dun.

Thanks KW

That's a much simpler plan...even I might be able to do this conversion!

Thanks again, Bill

The search function comes in handy again!

Either the old alt or voltage regulator went out today.
Went to the parts store and the guy knew the part# off the top of his head so I don't know what the alt actually fits, but it bolted right up.
Changed the wiring as explained by kwmech above and shes purring like a kitten.
I take it the old black ground wire that went to the old alt has no function any more?

Thanks guys for making this board such a great rescource!
