LT the basic 67-72 chev/gmc half ton truck with leaf springs may have only 3 leafs while the heavy duty spring option is a 5 leaf pack. I upgraded on my LWB and the ride is fine but the loaded ride is now great--very little sag. I also added a "leaf spring overload pack" that mounts above the leaf springs but you must add the overload stops to the frame. These are very different from the coil spring overloads that were a common option from the factory.
My 72 Blazer had a 3-4" lift which was done with a steel lift block in the rear between the axel and the 5 leaf pack---in the front, it had 1 full length additional leaf added to the stock leaf pack. That lifted up the front end about 3-4 inches and stiffened the ride quite a bit. Are you trying to stiffen the ride, lift the rear, or brace it for heavier towing loads as you have several options but you must choose wisely to get the desired end result. |

Hey Huck, my blazer has a 3" lift with blocks in the rear. The leaf springs in the front are new. The original leafs are still in back. The rear of the truck sags about an inch and a half with the top on. I am thinking the rear leaf springs could use a little help. I have considered 1 ton springs, but I am thinking some add a leafs will do the trick. Which would you do? I have located a set of 1 ton springs in a salvage yard, but I am not sure if they will fit without modifications, or how high they will lift the truck.

what are the lengths of your two shortest springs? i have a procomp addaleaf set for the rear of 67-72 fullsize. they advertise 1.5-2.5" lift, it really depends on the arc of your current springs. brand new still in box
