New tonneau cover on
I got lucky and found another Access tonneau cover at a swap meet this weekend and got a chance to install it today. Had to modify the mounting rails a little but she fits now. Also got a new tailgate protector for it .

How does that mount? Pic? Is there a frame screwed to the side of the bedrails? Looks very nice.

The two side rails clamp to the side of the bed with clamps like on a topper
front rail clamps to the side rails. Don't have a pic of it rolled up maybe tomorrow. This Tonneau cover was made by Access company and was designed to fit older style ford long box. I wasn't sure I would be able to get the rails cut right but I got the cover for $50 brand new so I figured if it wouldn't work I could always ebay it. These sell about $400 new!!!! I have never done a short bed but then again my only short bed is still in pieces in the garage and it's a stepside.

The Access brand covers are not totally weather tight as the stake pockets are exposed(uncovered). I would prefer a brand that does the whole top edge of the bed but my trucks have bed rails on them and these fit inside the bed rails.

That looks sharp man!
I want a cover for my lwb so bad! I like the idea of it being sealed against weather though. |

I may need to find a short ford that year to measure the size. I had an access cover on my 2500hd and I loved it.

I would like that model # please. You mentioned that you did not know if you could get the rails cut right... Did you have to do any modifications? I see you can use your bed rails. I have diamond plate caps, do you think I could still use this cover?
Thanks, Rich

Had to cut a little on the back of the rails and front. I think if you used a little thicker weatherstrip between rails and inside edge of bedsides you could probably even clear your diamond plates. I'll try and take some close ups of the mounting area tomorrow

I have a Gaylord on my shortbed, but it goes over the sides and the tailgate. No leaks and security as well.
But that one looks good installed. I suppose as for water tight or weather condition, just depends on where you live.
