2WD K5's...73 to 82....is this true?
Someone a while back metioned that 2wd K5's not only accounted for a very small percent of the production run....but were not made after 1982. I remember pm the person and i never got a response so i thought i'd run it up the flagpole now that i have found the web site that was lost...lol.
Got a line on a 2wd here in colorado with a rusty tub and unknown year...and realized after owning 2 K5's....i know quite a bit about the 4x4 end of the event....but nothing about the 2wd's. While i am at it...what is the best lowering kit....inches front vs. rear and rim tire size from experience out there? Doug W. 79 K5 76 K5 Chalet

I think you are correct. 1982 is the last year for the 2wd's, from what I have read. It seems like is was only 7% of production, or something of that nature. I bought mine already lowered, but it has Bell Tech spindles and springs in front, and shackles and rearched springs in the rear. Looks to be about 4/5 or so, from what I was told. Running a 235/60 tire at the front, and a 255/70 on the rear (both on 7" wheels ) the truck has a really nice rake to it, and rides well. I plan on leaving that alone. I will try to post a couple pictures this evening when I get home, to give you an idea.

My driveway has a pretty decent slant, so it is hard to tell about the rake. I really like teh way it sits, though.

Mine has BellTech 3 inch spindles and 2 inch Summit springs in the front.
Rear leafs are dearched by a local spring shop. Short shocks all around. All new PST suspension goodies. Rides great, no rubbing or bottoming out or anything.

Just purchased a 78 K5, couldn't find any production numbers yet.
But remember reading someplace that the 7% was about right.

Hi guys. I mentioned it was 7% awhile back. I got that info from GM.com when I was researching my 2wd. Yes 1982 was the last year. 1981 and 1982 have different front bumper horns than the older version. My 1980 was cut to put 1984 bumpers on by previous owner.

Up here in Canada, GM Canada has a vintage division. For $45.00 you send them your VIN. They research the vehicle and give you a nice print out of all the build specs. Production number, where built, what options, colour, etc. Sometimes even the dealer where it was sold and sell date.
Maybe you can check with GM.com or your local informed dealer to see if they have vintage vehicle services down there? If not, check www.gmcanada.com and search vintage vehicle services. Maybe they will do it for you. Doug |

I think the vehicles can be US made but the have to have been orginally purchased from a Canadian dealer. I've had paper work sent to me on both of my Corvettes.
