67-72 transfer crossmembers different????
I got a 4x4 frame I took the transfer crosmember off and I'm needing to know if they were different crossmembers for NP205 and rockwells, 4 speeds and automatics. I'm not sure the year of the frame for sure it was a 4 speed and I have a guy wanting the crossmember if it will work for him and there isn't a difference. Thanks for the help, Randy

Randy, yes there is a difference. I can't remember for sure but I believe the 4spd was to itself and auto & 3spd were the same. The 4spd had a little deeper cradle about 3/4 to 1". I don't think it was different from rockwell to np205.

With my last 72 I swapped my SM465 tranny and NP205 transfercase with a guys 69 TH350- NP205 set up. Crossmembers were the same as well as the driveline lengths, I used my own.

There are two crossmembers, do not know which went to what originally. One is about 1" deeper. If you have the shallow one you can use blooks to block it down. If you have the deep one and you need a shallow you should be able to block the tranny up.
