Everything that I have heard about the Holley systems has been negative. My understanding is their biggest downfall is in the computer, and they are difficult to get tuned properly. I thought about a Holley system before installing a tuned port system in my Blazer. If you want fuel injection, I would recommend a factory GM system. What sets the GM systems apart is that their ECM's are learning computers, which allows them to make corrections for minor variations in the fuel system for better performance and drivability.

I bought a 4 barrel projection setup and could not get it to run worth a crap and it was the expensive one you tune with a laptop! The manual was horrible so bad they were rewriting it at the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one of the 2 barrel units in the early 90s. The computer failed and Holley wanted almost as much for just the ECM as Super Shops did for a whole new setup.

I was never happy with the drivability anyway, so I removed it and went back to the quadrajet carb I had on it before.

Also, I'm going to move this thread over to the Engine and Drivetrain section. You'll get a lot more response over there than you would here.

Regards,
Kevin

Don't do it! Just took mine off when I put my fresh motor in. I went back to a carb for now until I can afford a multi-point set up. I can say that it never failed to start for me and in the colder months you could crank up and drive off like nothing. On the flip side the idle was irradic and it seemed the throttle blades would hang in the bores. Sometimes it seemed like the adjustment pots on the computer would make little change if any.

Had one...

I got one when they first came out. I put on a 383 I had in my FJ-40 one of the things I wish I could of done was get the Closed Loop setup for it. At High alt. it would load up really bad.
Over the yrs I had it on I had to replace the TPS, Coolant sending unit, I even got a used puter and used it.
When everything was up and running it ran great.

I don't think I would take a chance on a used one though...Well it would have to be a great deal and have the Closed Loop.
