Stepnotch and Seat room in panels/subs?
Well, i got all of my bag kit now, and will be starting it in 2 days. I had a few questions though, to all of you burban and panel owners. Ive got a 65 panel, 1/2 ton. I really wanna lay frame out back on stock trailing arm(dont tell me it cant be done, ive seen it) but the difference is the notch goes way forward. Is there much room for another set of seats, like the 2nd row behind the driver seats, with a big enough notch to lay close to the ground, and if anyone is ON the ground, with the notch that extends further forward, is there any room for seats. I got leather s-10 blazer buckets for the front, and a 60/40 split leather bucket setup for the rear, and i really wanna be able to haul at least 4-5 people, so i want back seats. Im wondering if anyone has back seats in their bagged burb or panel, and if they have pics on how much room. Also, if anyone has the modded notch to lay frame on trailing arm, if you have any interior notch pics, and pics of how much room. Thanks guys, this will determine if i lay frame or just go low. Thanks.

It depends on the tire height. If you are runnig the wheel/tire combo you are going to stay with measure from the ground to the top of your axle tube.I most of the time add a 1" to 2" over that. Then you will measure your frame and know how high to build your notch. This is the best way.

i know how to measure for the notch, but im wondering if anyone on like say 20's or 22's that lays frame or just runs a regular notch with trailing arm rear if they have enough room inside for rear seats. Thanks for the advice though.

Again it depends on tire size.I am going to say that I bet you can depending on the height of your seat.

yeah. it does, also though, i believe there are 1 or 2 people on here layin frame on stock trailing arm, and the notches go way forward, wondering if you can with those. Also, i have a 6" chop on my panel, and i will be mounting the seats straight to the floor or almost, cause i need all the headroom you can get. and there is no room to mount them on the notch, especially if i drop my body mounts down.

man this is my personal opinion and strictly that because i dont have a panel or anything but i dont believe your gonna have room.if you wasnt having to mount your seats directly to the floor then i think you would be ok. heres the deal. one of my project trucks i did a big notch in the back with trailing arms and 3 inch blocks. with the blocks and the trailing arms against the frame i was still prabably 2 inches off the ground. i understand you prabbaly wanna keep the trailing arms because they are a great link set up but what you might do is build some of your own. maybe take some thin wall tubing and build them a bit longer to counter act the excessive drop and raise them in the rear to act as a block but raise them up high enough so that when hitting the frame your frame is on the ground. there is a board member who built there own trailing arms in a bagged situation but i cant remember there name.
