How far can you leave rubber?
Let's here it. How far can you leave rubber in your C10?
Last night, I jumped on it from a dead idle, no flashing of the converter or anything, on a GRITTY road (slurry sealed) and left them for 75' (Measured it ) |

about 50ft when the asphalt is wet... both tires spinning, 1st, 2nd and catching it in 3rd, but I guess wet pavement doesn't count huh? hehe.

well, depending on how red is running (which not well as of late), from idling i can floor it and they break loose; never measured. Maybe when its time for new tires i'll light these up.

Half a block in the 78 and about the same in the 76 but they Have all terrains now if they had street tires that would be a different story.

With my M/T's it doesnt take much more than a sideways glance at the accelerator to light em up...an keepin up goin isnt hard either....the only problem I find is that at $200 a tire, I try to do that as little as possible....which takes a lot of clutch work. lol.
last measured (guesstimated) stripe with old tires an this engine was about 20-30 feet. that was with auto trans, jumpin on the pedal. My 1980 c20 I built an old vette motor for, camel hump heads etc.....an I could fry tires thru third gear rolling or at a stop, an lay stripes for about 100 feet. or more, but I ran out of rpms....lol man I miss that truck.....the ultimate sleeper....

Right now the GMC will chirp them if I give it a healthy amount of gas, I find it won't spin if I floor it, but will chirp them if I give them about half throttle. Never tried with the brakes yet, still a bit worried about the rear end giving in on me before I am ready to start driving the Toy...

does it really matter? spinning tires are a sign of not enough gear, or inadequate suspension. i'm planning on spending around $300 a tire, and spinning an already soft tire is just ridiculous.

Well to date the longest set of marks I have left was measured at 316 ft. One of my friends had to go back up and measure them with his measuring wheel from work. That is with 275/60 cooper cobras with a heat up for about 4 seconds and shift into high gear and let em burn. If I ever get a nice day before the white stuff falls maybe a video to share will be a plan.\______________________________________________

I can leave rubber marks for 300-400ft in my 77 Cheyenne.
I get going about 85-90 mph and stomp on the E-brake......

i`ve got a one legger rear with a 273 gear going through my .30 over 454. lets just say it`ll leave a good patch. i peeled the whole tread off of a tire once (old set of course) and it just spit it right out and left a mound of rubber behind my truck. i`ve got a few good pics to post when i get home. if i had to guess i`d say it would lay a couple hundred feet.

ahh hears one. that`s on 31-10.50`s and a mile high gear. i`d hate to see it with a 4.11 or something low.
