Searching for Wheels and Tires...

...is a big pain in the butt, especially when you are on a budget (and a truck "noob")!!

What I am looking for are alloy, chrome, or aluminum rims that look nice but aren't the flashy, expensive kind. I am including pictures of the kinds of rims that I like. I am looking for a 16" rim (3/4 ton 8 lugs). I don't know what kind of backspacing I need, or width (whatever is considered "normal").

As for tires, I'm not too concerned as to the brand (not el-cheapo's). I am looking for 265/75/R16's either 6 or 8 ply. I would like a slightly aggressive tread style that is good on all surfaces (needs to be good in mud/snow though).

Right now on my truck are mismatched tires that are weathercracked, and silver painted steel rims with the original style hubcaps on them (decent shape). I think (but not sure) that the front rims are 16.5" and the rear ones are 16", but I'm not sure. I guess I need to go measure to make sure that they are indeed different sizes like I think they are.

Anyways, I absolutely will need new tires. I would like chrome rims, but with my budget I realize that it would probably be better to just make sure I have the same size rim (16") all around, and keep using the original hubcaps. That is, unless I find a great deal on used rims.

So here comes some questions... Does anyone have anything similar to what I described for sale fairly cheap? Where are good places to look for slightly used rims and/or tires? What places generally have good deals on new tires? Also, suggestions on good tires or anything else that may be of help to me would really be appreciated. Buying new tires is new territory for me...

Anyways, thanks for listening to my rambling... here are a few pics of the kinds of rims that I would like to buy if I did buy different rims.

Check with these guys. Maybe they got what you're looking for?

http://www.truckandrv.com/

Got the wheels for my truck from them. Included rings, centers, and lugnuts. (8 lug GMC Ralleys) Price was very reasonable. Hope this helps?

No I haven't found what I needed... thanks for all of the help though.

I think to save money I am going to stick with the steel painted rims (might need to get 2 different ones from what I have now to match size) and the stock hubcaps. I will still be needing tires soon, however. I will check out a few local spots within the next week and see what I can find.

Well since I have found out that I need a new harmonic balancer... wheels are going to have to wait for a little while. I think I will end up with something similar to what I have now. I wish I knew of a good, close junkyard. The only ones I know about are in Omaha... about an hour away...
